Jaymison and Amber Lynn met in Granada, Spain and wanted to pay homage to the beautiful city. "Granada" is Spanish for pomegranate.
A plantation is a gated community. The term is part of the civil war and antebellum heritage of Hilton Head which was often a route on the Underground Railroad.
No. The plantation does offer many amenities and easy access to the wedding ceremony but guests may stay anywhere on or off the island. All guests will have access to the plantation on the evening of the wedding by requesting a gate pass from the guards at the main gate for the “Schmitt - Miller Wedding”.
We are thrilled to celebrate with so many loved ones from near and far. We know many people are unfamiliar with the area or are looking for economic accommodations. Please contact Amber Lynn (919-606-4148) to be connected with others. We expect to arrange a couple rooms or AirBnBs for guys and gals. Otherwise we have lodging recommendations on the “Travel” page of the website.
Guests may enter through the Shipyard Plantation Main Gate off of William Hilton Parkway/ Highway 278. Upon approaching the gate use the small paved path to the right marked for visitors. Inform the guard at the gate you are here for the “Schmitt-Miller Wedding”. Leave the pass on your dashboard. Follow the road until the traffic circle and take the third exit towards Shipyard drive. Follow Shipyard Drive which dead-ends into the Shipyard Beach Club. Park in the spaces on the left as you approach the Shipyard Beach Club. The main entrance has stairs. A side entrance has an accessible ramp towards the right of the building. The beach access boardwalk is also towards the right.
