Certaldo

The town of Certaldo is the closest town to Villa il Pozzo. (Some of our recommendations for places to stay are in Certaldo.) Certaldo is a charming small town that was built in the Middle Ages. A few popular things to do in Certaldo are visit the Priori Palace, check out some of the local churches, visit wineries, and enjoy Tuscan food.

Siena

Siena is known for its art, museums, and cuisine. A few popular things to do in Siena are visit the Duomo (cathedral) di Siena, climb up to the top of the Torre del Mangia, look at the frescoes in the Biblioteca Piccolomini (a library built in honor of Pope Pius II), explore the central piazza II Campo, and visit their weekly Wednesday market.

San Gimignano

San Gimignano is known as the Town of Fine Towers for its medieval architecture and about a dozen tower houses. The town sits on top of a hill and has gorgeous views of the surrounding cities. San Gimignano is also known for its white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, made from an ancient variety of grapes. A few popular things to do in San Gimignano are climbing to the top of Torre Grossa (the tallest tower), drinking wine at a wine tasting, visiting the town square (Piazza Del Duomo), and getting some gelato at the world-famous Gelateria di Piazza.
