Mountain weather can be unpredictable, even in the summer. Days are typically sunny and comfortable, but evenings can cool down quickly. We recommend bringing layers and long pants especially for the welcome party.
Vail and Summit County sit at high elevation (8,000-9,000 ft). You may notice the altitude if you’re traveling from sea level. We recommend staying hydrated, taking it easy your first day, and enjoying the mountain air. Altitude effects everyone differently, water will be your best friend.
While we love your little ones, our ceremony and reception will be adults-only. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you. Kids are welcome to attend the welcome party!
Absolutely. Shuttle buses will run to and from the wedding venue with designated pick-up locations in Silverthorne and Frisco. Guests will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from these pick-up points. We want everyone to relax, enjoy the evening, and have a safe ride over the mountain pass. More details to come as we get closer!
Both our ceremony and reception will take place at Donovan Pavilion. We’re planning for an outdoor ceremony on the patio, followed by a reception with an indoor–outdoor feel. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll simply move the celebration indoors — either way, we can’t wait to celebrate together.
Summit County offers several transportation options. There is a free local bus system connecting Frisco, Breckenridge, Dillon, and Silverthorne throughout the day. Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are available, though wait times can vary, especially in the evenings. If you’d like the flexibility to explore on your own schedule, we recommend renting a car from the airport. While not required, having a vehicle can make getting around the mountains easier and more convenient.
We will be two stepping and may bring out some popular line dancing songs during the reception. Make sure you know how to basic two-step!
We’ll be floating a scenic, easygoing stretch of the Colorado River from Rancho del Rio to State Bridge — more relaxing than adventurous, with beautiful views along the way. No experience is needed, and while you may get a little wet from splashes, it’s generally a calm float. We recommend bringing a swimsuit, sunscreen, a hat, and anything you’re comfortable getting a little wet.
