Things To Do

Marin is a very special place, with so much natural beauty to enjoy! Below are some of our favorite hikes and vistas.
Muir Woods National Monument

Muir Woods National Monument

Mill Valley, CA 94941

Muir Woods National Monument is part of California’s Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It’s known for its towering old-growth redwood trees. Trails wind among the trees to Cathedral Grove and Bohemian Grove, and along Redwood Creek.

Matt Davis Trail Head

Matt Davis Trail Head

Matt Davis Trail, Stinson Beach, CA 94970

This popular hike departs from the town of Stinson Beach, and harmonizes a few popular trails including the Steep Ravine and Dipsea trails (both amazing). This 6 1/2 mile loop features waterfalls, redwoods, Douglas firs, oak forests, grasslands, canyons, and views galore!

Tennessee Valley Trailhead

Tennessee Valley Trailhead

591 Tennessee Valley Road, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Tennessee Valley is an amazing offshoot of the Marin Headlands, with hiking trails to suit the whole family. The trail is mostly level; it begins at the parking area and travels 1.7 miles to Tennessee Beach. Tennessee Valley contains a bevy of wildlife; from mighty raptors to common swallows. The valley is teeming with deer, coyote, and on occasion you might even see a bobcat.

Point Reyes National Seashore

Point Reyes National Seashore

Point Reyes Station, CA 94956

Known for its thunderous ocean breakers, rocky headlands, expansive sand beaches, open grasslands, brushy hillsides, and forested ridges.

Bolinas Beach

Bolinas Beach

Brighton Ave and Cliff Road, CA 94924

The seaside community of Bolinas is the oldest town in coastal Marin. The wildlife rich Bolinas Lagoon is great for kayaking and canoeing.

Stinson Beach

Stinson Beach

Stinson Beach, CA 94970

Stinson’s white sand and oceanfront make it one of the best swimming beaches in northern California—not to mention a favorite surfing, picnicking, and volleyball spot. The best times of year for surfing are winter and spring.
