How It All Started

Manifesting a Crush to a Couple

Gordon and Amanda met after taking a Web Development class together in their Senior year of High School at Saugus. If we want to get technical, Amanda knew of Gordon in Junior High, as they shared a classroom during State testing. Little did Gordon know that 7th grade Amanda had a crush on him. However, he was oblivious to anything revolving girls. Anywho, after sharing a class in High School they began talking more and shared a mutual friend. Amanda used this mutual friend as an excuse to get Gordons number (she said she was worried about the friend and wanted to text Gordon about it instead of talking out loud... sneaky girl). From then on, they texted ALL the time which eventually led to hand holding at school (Gordon is still too nervous to grab Amanda's hand. She still continues to make all of the first moves). G then started walking Amanda to class, and eventually they worked up to hugging and sharing their first kiss. They became an official couple on 6/30/2016 where Gordon asked Amanda to be his girlfriend through a love note.

The Proposal Story

Finding Dory to Finding a Ring

We promise the title makes sense once you read this story. As previously mentioned, Gordon asked Amanda out through a love note. The love note was given after a movie date where we saw "Finding Dory". In the movie Dory ends up at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to find her family. Well... G came up with the incredible idea to propose in Monterey Bay, and now WE are a family. G whisked Amanda away for the weekend and we stayed at a beautiful hotel overlooking the water. We woke up to sea otters outside our window (Did you know they mate for life?), went for a coffee date, rode bikes, and went to the aquarium. We ended our night with a reservation at a Steakhouse where we ate incredible food and reminisced on the day. Amanda noticed that G was particularly nervous, but thought it was because the bill was going to be large (It was). After dinner we walked back to our hotel, where backstage the hotel team made the room look romantic and laid flowers out on the bed. As we approached the door, G made sure to enter the room first and led Amanda down a flower path. G went to go reach for a love note and asked Amanda to read it. She was already shaking and getting teary eyed. Then, Gordon got down on one knee, and before he could say anything, Amanda started smiling and crying. Gordon spoke of our love, how we motivate one another, challenge one another, and bring so much joy into each other's life. He continued speaking for several minutes, saying the most heartfelt things that would make anyone cry with happiness and love. At the end, he asked if Amanda would marry him to which she replied "yes, of course". He put a very special ring on her finger (Amanda's Nana handed down her wedding ring from her soulmate, Allen Bellith) and we were officially engaged on 6/30/2023! We then FaceTimed all of our closest friends and family to let them know the news!

Where Are They Now?

Leaving Home to Create Our Own

In July of 2023 Gordon and Amanda embarked on a new journey of moving to Utah. Update: We love it here! Every season is breathtakingly beautiful and fun to experience. We were able to check off a box in the next step of our relationship, which was moving in together! We are able to afford a lovely townhome with a great neighborhood and views that make us appreciate life every day (sorry Cali but we wouldn't have been as successful doing that there). Utah has provided us the opportunity to participate in cultural differences like speciality soda (Swig is the superior drink stop), enjoy the outdoors, test our driving skills (the roads are crazy here!), and have a higher chance of seeing wildlife. On a more serious note, we can live comfortably, be hosts and invite friends and family to stay with us, and save for our future together. It was such a hard decision to leave our family and friends in California. We spent our entire lives surrounded by the beauty and heat of Santa Clarita and Camarillo. We fell in love there, and ultimately consider it our home. That is why it was important for us to have the wedding in California, surrounded by our fond memories and feeling comfort, familiarity, and warmth. Fillmore is also special because it served as a half-way point when we did long-distance for more than a year (yes, we considered 35-40 minutes long-distance). Every time we wanted to spend time together, one of us had to drive through Fillmore to get to the other. As you may have noticed, we are very intentional with our decisions and plans. In the end, it feels right to begin our new married lives together by going back to where it all began.
