Evan and I were born three days apart at Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe, CA. As a result, we have a running joke that we’ve known each other since birth (when we were incubator neighbors). His mom was obviously giving my mom a high-five as she was coming out and mine was coming in. Evan and I went to separate Elementary Schools, but I’m sure we attended some of the same birthday parties (like laser tag). However, we don’t remember each other much until we attended Middle and High School. In High School, Evan and I had classes together and considered each other friends. A fun fact, we even shared our first kiss in a storage closet at a friend’s house party. Evan doesn’t remember because he was inebriated, but in a way I’m thankful. We were just babies back then! This brings me to our full-circle moment. We both came home to Tahoe for the Summer 2017 after Evan graduated from his undergrad program and I called it quits at Yelp in San Francisco. So how did we rekindle things, might you ask? Evan made the bold move and slid into my DM on Instagram, and I agreed to meet him for pizza at AleWorX. Within the next few nights, I started visiting him at work for free drinks (Evan was serving/bartending at the time) and the rest was history! What can I say, I really enjoyed his spicy margaritas. After the summer was over, I went off to Graduate School at Pepperdine, and after a few months of missing each other, Evan made the move down to Los Angeles. For the past five years, we have really gotten to know each other. We have been through trials and tribulations, but have also experienced the finer things in life like travel, living together, bringing not only one but two corgis into our home, and countless moments of love and laughter.
Evan and I traveled to Tulum Mexico end of October through early November of 2022. This was a trip that had been rescheduled a handful of times, so it was exciting enough that we were finally able to go! When we were there, we stayed with Ahau Tulum on the hotel zone beach front. One night, Taco Tuesday, we had open plans for dinner so I had our hotel book a dinner reservation for us at one of their sister beach front properties. During dinner, Evan got up to “use the restroom” but he was actually talking to a waiter and asked if he would be able to record the proposal. When Evan came back to the table, he said he needed to show me something really cool (I knew right then and there it was FINALLY happening). He walks me over to this beautiful boho arch that is overlooking the ocean, with the restaurant all to ourselves, and he gets down on a knee and asks me to marry him! It was a beautiful private moment that we will forever cherish! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Tahoe!
