The sooner the better, but the RSVP deadline is March 21, 2023. We recommend that you solidify your plans ASAP so that you're able to get accommodations. Positano is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, plus it is a small village, and as such accommodations get booked out very far in advance. If you think you won't be able to meet this RSVP deadline, please reach out to us directly. If you know you can make it to the wedding day, but still unsure about some of the welcome activities, RSVP Yes to the Wedding Day Event ASAP and RSVP No to undecided activities for now and leave us a note that it may change.
We have a number of optional events planned before the wedding, starting the evening of Tuesday, June 6. If you would like to join us for these, we recommend you arrive on June 5th to get settled in. If you're shorter on time, then you could fly into Naples Airport NO LATER than the morning of June 6 and theoretically still make it for our welcome dinner at 6 pm. If you are already in Italy/ the Amalfi Coast area, aim to be in Positano no later than morning/early afternoon on June 6. If you can only come for the wedding day, we recommend arriving to Naples Airport on Wednesday, June 7, so you can get to Positano and settle in before the wedding day. If you want to make a bigger trip, we recommend spending a week or two in Italy and exploring the nearby areas!
Positano is about 61 kilometers (about 38 miles) from Naples International Airport, and driving the distance between the two locations typically takes about 80 minutes — though it can take more or less time depending on the traffic. Please see our Travel page for a complete list of recommendations on how to get from Naples to Positano.
Positano is one of the most popular destinations in the world. We recommend booking accommodations ASAP. The sooner the better (6-8 months out). And really try for no later than 4-5 months in advance (at 4 months your options might be limited).
The wedding will be held at Villa Oliviero in Positano, but we will also have some events near the beach in Positano (Positano Spiaggia). When booking your accommodation, we recommend you look at the location on Google maps and then check directions to both the beach and the villa to see how far walking distance it is. This will help ensure you stay relatively close to all of the events. We recommend staying within 15-20 mins walking distance to the Villa and/or the beach. Please check our travel page for a list of recommended hotels and Airbnbs. We do NOT recommend staying in any other nearby village on the Amalfi Coast during the wedding week. Please double-check to make sure your accommodation is in central Positano and close to the villa and/or beach. Beware of locations, such as "Arienzo, Positano". The location should say "Positano" only. Please feel free to reach out to us if you are unsure about the location.
PASSPORT VALIDITY (3-6 months expiration date from date of departure from the EU): Six months validity recommended (passport expiration date is recommended to be 6 months BEYOND your planned date of departure from the EU/Schengen area). For example, if you plan to leave Italy/the EU on June 10, 2023 then it is recommended that your Passport expiration date is no earlier than Dec. 10, 2023. At a minimum, it should have 3 months validity beyond your planned date of departure from the EU/Schengen area. BLANK PASSPORT PAGES: Two pages required for entry stamp. TOURIST VISA REQUIRED: Not required for stays under 90 days.
In early June, the weather will be heating up in Positano. You can expect daytime temperatures between 75-85 degrees F. In the evening it can cool down to around 65 degrees F and may even feel colder with the ocean breeze. It will be hot during the day, perfect for sunbathing and swimming in the ocean, however, for the evenings you may want to have a lightweight layer.
Positano is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been! It is a small seaside village that is vibrant and charming, with breathtaking views, and amazing food. But with beauty, comes popularity. The downside of Positano is that it is quite touristy. Hopefully, in early June, we will avoid the major crowds of high summer, but do be prepared for some crowds, higher prices, and traffic. The best way you can prepare is to book your accommodations ASAP. Additionally, if there are any excursions or dinners you are interested in that aren't part of our itinerary, we recommend booking those well in advance. Lastly, we've mentioned this a few times now, but Positano is built into a steep seaside cliff so it has A LOT of stairs. For any events, please keep this in mind. Especially important for the ladies, walking up many flights of stairs in 80-degree weather does not bode well for hair and makeup. Either give yourself extra time to make the journey, so you can take breaks and not get sweaty or plan ahead and book a taxi or car service. The plus side is that Positano is relatively very small, and you can get just about anywhere in town within 15-25 mins walking (this is without rest breaks).
Please see our schedule for a list of events and corresponding dress codes. However, here is a more detailed explanation of the Wedding Ceremony & Reception dress code: Black Tie Optional: This means men can wear tuxedos or formal suits. Women can wear floor-length gowns to formal cocktail-length dresses in any color, including black. However, please avoid bright neons. We'd love for you to be creative and bring your fashion A-game ;) We also want you to feel comfortable and be able to dance the night away with us. The entire celebration is outdoors. It will be very warm during the first part of the day but will cool off a bit at night. If you would like, you can wear comfortable walking shoes to get to the villa and bring heels/dress shoes to change into at the villa. Also, note the beaches along the Amalfi coast are pebble beaches, not sand beaches. You may want to consider bringing water shoes for any daytime beach activities during your trip.
Positano is built into a steep cliffside, so it has A LOT of stairs. Keep this in mind for your shoe choice for any events you are walking to. For the dressier wedding events, no one should feel obligated to wear heels, but of course, you are welcome to do so! Dressy flats or dressy sandals are also welcome! If you're walking to the wedding reception, you're welcome to wear comfortable shoes for the hike up stairs and bring your heels/dress shoes to change into at the villa.
There are no large shuttles in Positano and no central meeting areas to pick groups of guests up. We are working on organizing a few smaller cars and/or vans for those who may need assistance getting to/and from the wedding. Please reach out if you think this is something you will want.
We ask that our guests do not take photos or videos during the wedding ceremony. However, photos and videos are welcomed and encouraged at any other time throughout the wedding evening and the entire wedding week. #DerandaItalia
We love your kids! But we want our wedding to be your time off so you can fully enjoy and be engaged in the festivities. If you're interested in childcare services, please let us know.
Please contact us directly regarding this.
