Scott and Amanda met in law school. Scott sat next to Amanda on their very first day of class in Civil Procedure. Over the first year of law school they exchanged flirty small talk but it wasn't until their second year when the sparks really began to fly. Amanda was a board member of a student organization that planned a spring break trip to New Orleans to provide free legal assistance for those in need. When she saw Scott's name appear on the trip roster, she had a flutter of excitement. Fast forward to the first group dinner of the trip, where Scott and Amanda traded banter across a table of 15 people. After dinner, a classmate asked Amanda, "How long have you and Scott been dating?" To which Amanda protested "We're not!" But at that point, to borrow a legal phrase, the bell could not be unrung. The two began dating shortly after returning to Los Angeles and as they passed each other in the halls they smiled and looked forward to seeing each other on the weekend. Two months into dating, the pair was separated by the pandemic. Scott was in New Jersey and Amanda was in Pismo Beach. Despite being on separate coasts, they held onto their relationship and continued to get to know each other. That’s when they both knew this could be something serious. When they returned to Los Angeles for their third year of law school, they were inseparable. Together they graduated law school, studied for the bar exam, and navigated the early years of their legal careers. They have enjoyed exploring California with their two dogs, Winston and Ellie, and have developed a love for hiking. To celebrate the sixth anniversary of that fateful New Orleans trip, Scott planned a special trip for the two back to the Crescent City. Scott proposed to Amanda in City Park under the canopy of an 800-year-old Southern Live Oak draped in Spanish Moss. Amanda thought about it, and then said “yes!!”
