Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
This takes place for 3 weeks STRAIGHT! So it'll be going on every day you're in town. It's definitely at least a half day event, so plan accordingly. You seriously won't want to miss it. Fried EVERYTHING, the best BBQ in town, carnival games and rides, and for those of you who actually know whats going on, the actual RODEO!
McGovern Centennial Gardens
This is such a gorgeous botanical park in Houston. You can walk around and look at all the different fruits/flowers/veggies they're planting and walk up a small hill for a great view of Houston/Medical Center.
Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park
This is a classic landmark for Houston. If you're going shopping at the galleria, I would recommend to just stop by. It's not a place you'd spend much time at.
Children's Museum of Houston
Great indoor entertainment if you have kiddos of any age!
Torchy's Tacos
Queso. Queso. Queso. That's all I have to say! The BEST tacos in town!
Rice Village
Rice Village is an area of town that has restaurants and shopping. Some chain stores and some cute local boutiques. There may be a few restaurants on our list that are within the Rice Village area.
Snooze, An A.M. Eatery
This is a great brunch spot here in Houston! There are a few locations so feel free to go to any of them. I would definitely recommend coming here early as there is usually a long wait. Their pancakes are amazing, but so is everything on the menu!
Tiny Boxwoods
Delicious and adorable brunch spot!
Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Do yourself a favor and get their green chile queso fries. Drooling just thinking about them...
Yoyo's Hot Dogs
This is late night food, if you know what I mean. It started as a small one man show hot dog stand, and now they've blown up! We're not sure how/what makes them so delicious, but I promise you won't regret it. Again, LATE NIGHT...
El Tiempo Cantina- Richmond
The best Tex-Mex in town! You can't go wrong with chips & salsa, fajitas & margaritas here!
North Italia
We LOVE North!! The truffle bread as an appetizer WILL NOT DISAPPOINT Y'ALL. All their pasta is made in-house, great vibes, delicious pizzas. If you catch them during HH - its $20 Bottle & Board. Such a good deal. They stay busy, so keep that in mind! Also, this place is conveniently located in comparison to the ceremonies and reception!
Local Foods Upper Kirby
If you're looking for something on the lighter/healthier side, this will hit the spot! Alyssa's favorite: Garden Sammie on a pretzel bun! Vimal's favorite: Anything on the rotating vegetarian menu!
Postino
Postino is one of our favorite date spots! It's also great to grab a glass of wine in between festivities. They are definitely most famous for their bruschettas. Seriously, you'll want to come back for them before you leave!
Shri Balaji Bhavan
If you're looking for the best chaat in town, this is the place. Beware! Some of their dishes can be pretty spicy. Some of our favorites: Samosa Chaat, Pav Bhaji, Dhai Puri, Bhel Puri, Mysore Masala Dosa
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
Delicious ice cream option located next to a ton of other things to do!
Tinys Milk and Cookies
Okay, this is such a special gem in Houston. It's connected to a great brunch spot too (Tiny's No.2). You can't go wrong with just plain chocolate chip cookies and milk here, but our all time favorite is the Milk & Cookies ice cream. DELICIOUS homemade ice cream!
Saint Arnold Brewing Company
One of our favorite breweries in Houston! If the sky is clear, this is definitely a perfect spot to hang out . The food is eh, but the place itself is rad. Don't forget to check out the St. Arnold's art car while you're there. Houston as an amazing art car parade, and you'll get to learn a little about it there!
Axelrad Beer Garden
Another great place to go if the sky is clear! They have great music and some fun swings! If its chilly, they have blankets too. You can also order pizza next door at Luigi's and eat it at Axelrad. It's good pizza!
Lei Low Bar
Our favorite little tiki bar in town. It can look a little sketch from the outside, but that's what makes it so special!
Wooster's Garden
If you're a crafted cocktail kind of person, we love this place! The bartenders know what they're doing and they have a huge variety. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well. If you're going at night, parking can be limited. Uber/lyft is always the best option.
Pitch 25
If you're looking for a great sports bar to watch a game, or feeling the sport bar vibes, this is a cool spot! Brian Ching, a player from the Houston Dynamo (Houston's MLS team), opened his own bar right next door to the stadium! The food is eh, but they have an actual pitch inside with games and such. It's also walking distance to a bunch of other restaurants and bars. (I.e. Truckyard, 8th Wonder Brewery, Miss Carousel, Seaside Poke, Rodeo Goat, Vinny's, Hunyh) <-- Feel free to ask me about some of these!
Sixty Vines
The burrata and pizza is amazing!!! Over 60 wines on tap!
Kirby Ice House
Great if you're just wanting a chill place to grab a beer. They typically have food trucks parked for food!
Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co
The BEST view of Downtown Houston's skyline!
