To Our Friends & Family

"We can't control everything in life, but we can choose the people we spend life with"

We're both extremely excited, and grateful to celebrate our wedding together and with all of you. Each one of you means an incredible amount to us, and we're thankful for everything that you have done for us and our relationship. Family and friends mean the world to both of us, and to have you all there for this important chapter of our lives is something we will always cherish and hold dear. Thank you all for being our people!

How We Met

September 2012

We met in college when we were both at dance team tryouts. We didn’t think much about it then, but our first impressions of each other included medical tape, lots and lots of dance questions (from Alyssa of course), and some other funny memories. Throughout the first year together on the team we talked here and there and got to know each other, but it was actually during the summer of 2013 that we really connected. It was a random game night of Taboo where we truly realized we enjoyed each others company, but a few nights later we both stayed up the entire night, talking about our lives. It was that conversation that really made us think this could really be something special. Graduating together, getting our first jobs together, traveling to new cities and countries, adopting our dog (Leela), completing the MS150, and many more memories later and here we are!

The Proposal

10.13.2018

It started by Alyssa’s Dad managing to convince her that we had dinner plans with family friends who happened to be in town for a "long layover" (despite many questions/suspicions). We planned to meet with everyone at the house first and then we'd head out to dinner. As we reached the house, Alyssa immediately commented how strange it was that cars were parked all the way down the driveway and knew something was up. Vimal gave her a blindfold, and told her that her dad had a surprise for her and her sister and he wanted her blindfolded. The backyard was decorated with lights, and posters that looked like polaroids with some of our most special memories together. Alyssa’s family transformed her childhood jungle gym in the backyard into a little tent that had a hand-sewed quilt made by Alyssa’s mom and grandmother, flowers, and a handmade wooden sign that Vimal made that said “Marry me?”. After some special words and tears, Alyssa said YES! Our dog Leela, and our closest family and friends all ran out to meet and celebrate with us after. The rest of the night turned into an awesome party, with good food and plenty of dancing. It was a day we’ll never forget and couldn’t have done without everyone’s help!
