Things To Do
Space Center Houston
An excellent opportunity to explore one of the main things Houston is known for, NASA and mission control. There are lots of exhibits from lunar exhibitions, to Mars, and a Saturn V rocket. Take a tram tour to visit mission control or the astronaut training facility. Perfect for those travelling with kids or anyone with an interest in space and science. Space Center Houston is approximately one hour by car from the area of the wedding venue.
Galveston
Galveston is the closest beach to Houston. You can enjoy a walk on the beach with great views of the gulf, tour the railroad museum, or walk The Strand historical district. Be sure to check out one of Brandon's favorite spots, La King's Confectionery to see candy being made and satisfy your sweet tooth. There is much more to see and do in Galveston and would make for a good day trip while visiting. Galveston island is roughly an hour and a half drive from the venue.
Blue Bell Creameries
A quick 45-minute drive northwest will take you to the creamery where our favorite ice cream is produced. There is an on-site visitor center and ice cream parlor open from 8am-5pm Mon-Fri. Or catch a glimpse of the products being made from the observation deck, open Mon.-Fri. from 8am-2pm. Please be aware that the creamery is only open on weekdays during February.
Houston Zoo
For those who are animal lovers (and for the kiddos), we recommend checking out the Houston Zoo to interact with and observe the animals and exhibits that the city has to offer. The surrounding Hermann Park is also a great place to relax and/or go for a walk to enjoy a piece of nature in the city.
Houston Museum of Natural Science
The Houston Museum of Natural Science has something to offer for people of all ages. We recommend this for anyone who enjoys learning and hands on experiences. There are many rotating exhibits that pass through as well as a wide collection of standard exhibits curated by the museum.
