An old mining town north of Durango via The Million Dollar Highway. Tour an abandoned mine, rent ATVs, or access world-class high alpine hiking. 35 mins north of the venue. OPTIONAL: Get there via the Durango-Silverton Railroad. This train is a fixture of our town that cuts through the gorgeous mountain valleys between Durango and Silverton. Take the train one way and the bus the other otherwise it turns into a big day.
Drive-to alpine lake with paved parking and good views. Stroll around the lake for a 1-mile loop. OPTIONAL: From Andrews Lake, hike towards Crater Lake for wild flowers and views of Engineer Mountain (hike as far as you want before turning around; 5mi to Crater Lake one-way).
3 mile loop to a high alpine lake. Need 4WD to get to the trailhead.
8am-12pm Saturdays. A delightful place one block off main street. Find produce, mushrooms, meat, coffee/food vendors, and a range of artisans. Live music.
