Their love story began in 2007 when Gage and Aly were in seventh grade. Gage’s family had just moved down the street from Aly. The two quickly became friends and shared a love of music. In eighth grade, their teacher paired them together for their first Talent Show where they performed “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”. They continued the tradition of performing together at talent shows throughout high school. Once they graduated high school, they both went off to college. Even though they ended up at the same university, they each kind of went their separate ways and made new friends as they started becoming adults. After their first year of college, they both ended up coming back home to Franklin. They reconnected by going to see a Surfer Blood show together, which was a band that they both loved. They spent the entire night talking about who they had become during their year apart and singing along to every song. Gage saw Aly in a different light that night. Little did Gage know, but Aly had had a crush on him since he walked on the bus on the first day of seventh grade. After the concert, they kept seeing each other and eventually went on their first date in the summer of 2015. After that, they fell in love and the rest is history.
Gage knew he wanted to propose in 2020, after they had both graduated from college. Then the pandemic started and made planning a proposal even more difficult. The options were few, but Gage’s upcoming birthday seemed like the perfect disguise to surprise Aly with a proposal. With the help of both families, the proposal plans were made. Aly believed they were going to Arrington Vineyards for a birthday celebration, but it was actually an engagement party. Gage had arranged for Aly’s family to come out and surprise her once he had gotten down on one knee. It worked according to Gage’s plan because Aly had absolutely no idea that Gage would be proposing to her that day. She said yes!
