For the ceremony, wear something you are comfortable in! If the weather cooperates, we'll be hanging at the state park (where you can swim, rent kayaks/SUPs/canoes, picnic, throw a frisbee etc.) until 2pm ish when we'll leave to go get ready for the reception. If you want to look fancy, go for it! (There are bathrooms you can change in post-ceremony). If you are happy in your swimsuit, or casual clothes that's cool too. For the reception, we'll probably be dressed in somewhere in cocktail to semi-formal attire, but don't let us stop you if you've got a ballgown or a tux you've been waiting to show off (you know who you are :) )
We suggest getting to the state park at 9:30am. Park staff are opening a little early for us (right at 9:30am) to arrive, park and set up the ceremony area. The state park opens to the rest of the public for the day at 10:00 am, so the later you arrive the more chance that you might get stuck in traffic. We plan to start the ceremony around 10 - 10:15am. The ceremony will be on top of a small hill and there is a short walk, about five minutes from the parking lot. (There is closer lot that is right next to the hillside for those who need, but we ask that guests use the secondary lot if they are able to leave space for the boat launch users!)
Okay, we realize this is probably not a frequently asked question but we are breaking the mold and doing our ceremony on a state park hillside and want to keep things casual! Bring your favorite beach chair, camp chair, picnic blanket or towel or just lounge in the grass. (These will come in handy for hanging post-ceremony.) For anyone with mobility concerns, please let us know and we can find you a solution that will work so you can be there!
If it's a light rain, we'll still be outside for the ceremony. We love being outside. Bring an umbrella or your favorite rain jacket. If it's pouring or thunderstorming, we'll re-assess. Maybe we'll move the ceremony to a different, less rainy time or meet at Isham Family Farm (where the reception will be) and there is indoor space.
If it's not pouring rain, we want to spend time outside with all of you! We love spending time outside doing active things and also want time to visit with anyone coming to celebrate with us. No pressure if you're not big on nature, after the ceremony you can check out other activities to do nearby or go take a nap and then meet us for dinner and dancing at Isham Family Farm for the reception. If you do want to hang out, bring your own picnic lunch and a bathing suit, towel, frisbee, soccer ball, book, etc. and we'll have a family reunion style hang for a couple hours after the ceremony.
Yes, it will be a family-friendly event, bring your kiddos!
No... sorry!
