Take a walk around one of our favorite parks and the place we got engaged! There is a paved mile long loop around the perimeter that used to be a horse racing track prior to the Revolutionary War (which has a good amount of shade for any runners). Many of the gazebo structures still in place today are restored from the park's brief stint as a world fair-esque expo which hosted President Teddy Rosevelt. After a few more transitions it finally became the park we know and love today!
This is one of the first coffee shops we went to together! Allie even lives around the corner from it today. It's the perfect place to grab a coffee and snack on a unique pastry (a very allergy friendly option), or just appreciate the atmosphere.
The Old Village of Mount Pleasant is a great place to escape the busy city, explore some locally owned boutiques, and take in some beautiful marsh views from the nearby land bridge known as Pitt Street Bridge. If a good view of the harbor is on your list, you'd be hard pressed to miss this!
Another fan favorite super close to the Gibbes! This is the Harbinger's sister shop.
This is a used book shop in the heart of downtown. They have a wide selection of books that cover all interests and host the annual young adult literary festival!
Yet another great place for new and used books, for those exploring lower King (near The Gibbes Museum).
Before getting engaged, we dove into some vegan pizza and garlic knots and suggest you do the same! This restaurant is super allergy friendly, and it is (surprisingly) 100% vegan.
You'll never have a bad drink at the Gin Joint. Whether you order a classic cocktail, drink something off of their seasonal menu, or let the bartender craft you an one-of-a-kind drink, you're bound to have a great time.
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city in the spot we met! Considered one of the prettiest spots on College of Charleston's campus, it's a must-see for spanish moss and classic Charleston architecture.
The best beach in Chas (in our opinion)! Quiet and always breezy, with great views of the harbor. Nearby restraunts we love are the Obstinate Daughter, Poe's (burgers), Fish Camp and Mex One. A fun ice cream spot is just under the Obstinate Daughter known as the Bearded Cat.
Allie here, and I'm drooling as I type this in. Leon's has been one of my favorite restaurants since it opened! It has the best chicken sandwich you'll ever have in your life, not to mention the slaw and the pickled cucumber and the hushpuppies... I haven't even touched seafood (which I've heard is good from folks who like that sort of thing). Give it a try!
A great little hole in the wall for casual dinning 15 min from the peninsula, this Asian-Latin fusion spot is hard to pass up!
A favorite for special occasions, this classic Mt Pleasant spot represents the charm of the old village perfectly. We highly recommend taking a stroll around the neighborhood after, or renting a room upstairs if you're so inclined.
