Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Allison Senf and Creighton Shelby
We are blessed to call Charleston home and want to share a few of our favorite places and activities with y'all! One of the best ways to see the city (according to Creighton) is on bike! Some hotels allow you to rent them, but Lime has rent-a-bike stations all around the city through Uber. But, if that's not your speed, walking is also one of our favorite ways to take it all in. Simply find a parking spot in whatever neighborhood downtown you please and start exploring- be sure to be aware of the parking time limit for non-residents in that area though.

Hampton Park

Charleston, SC 29403

Take a walk around one of our favorite parks and the place we got engaged! There is a paved mile long loop around the perimeter that used to be a horse racing track prior to the Revolutionary War (which has a good amount of shade for any runners). Many of the gazebo structures still in place today are restored from the park's brief stint as a world fair-esque expo which hosted President Teddy Rosevelt. After a few more transitions it finally became the park we know and love today!

The Harbinger Cafe & Bakery

1107 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
, (843) 637-3410

This is one of the first coffee shops we went to together! Allie even lives around the corner from it today. It's the perfect place to grab a coffee and snack on a unique pastry (a very allergy friendly option), or just appreciate the atmosphere.

Pitt Street Bridge

Pitt Street, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464

The Old Village of Mount Pleasant is a great place to escape the busy city, explore some locally owned boutiques, and take in some beautiful marsh views from the nearby land bridge known as Pitt Street Bridge. If a good view of the harbor is on your list, you'd be hard pressed to miss this!

Harken Cafe

62 Queen Street, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 718-3626

Another fan favorite super close to the Gibbes! This is the Harbinger's sister shop.

Blue Bicycle Books

420 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
, (843) 722-2666

This is a used book shop in the heart of downtown. They have a wide selection of books that cover all interests and host the annual young adult literary festival!

Buxton Books

160 King Street, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 723-1670

Yet another great place for new and used books, for those exploring lower King (near The Gibbes Museum).

Neon Tiger

654 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
, (843) 640-3902

Before getting engaged, we dove into some vegan pizza and garlic knots and suggest you do the same! This restaurant is super allergy friendly, and it is (surprisingly) 100% vegan.

The Gin Joint

182 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC 29401
, (843) 577-6111

You'll never have a bad drink at the Gin Joint. Whether you order a classic cocktail, drink something off of their seasonal menu, or let the bartender craft you an one-of-a-kind drink, you're bound to have a great time.

The Cistern - College of Charleston

66 George Street, Charleston, SC 29424

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city in the spot we met! Considered one of the prettiest spots on College of Charleston's campus, it's a must-see for spanish moss and classic Charleston architecture.

Sullivan's Island Beach

Charleston, SC 29492

The best beach in Chas (in our opinion)! Quiet and always breezy, with great views of the harbor. Nearby restraunts we love are the Obstinate Daughter, Poe's (burgers), Fish Camp and Mex One. A fun ice cream spot is just under the Obstinate Daughter known as the Bearded Cat.

Leon's

698 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
, 843 531 6500

Allie here, and I'm drooling as I type this in. Leon's has been one of my favorite restaurants since it opened! It has the best chicken sandwich you'll ever have in your life, not to mention the slaw and the pickled cucumber and the hushpuppies... I haven't even touched seafood (which I've heard is good from folks who like that sort of thing). Give it a try!

Dashi's

1262 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406
, (843) 284-6804

A great little hole in the wall for casual dinning 15 min from the peninsula, this Asian-Latin fusion spot is hard to pass up!

Post House

101 Pitt Street, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29464
, (303) 722-6554

A favorite for special occasions, this classic Mt Pleasant spot represents the charm of the old village perfectly. We highly recommend taking a stroll around the neighborhood after, or renting a room upstairs if you're so inclined.
