Chuck had wanted to get married soon after we started dating but I wanted him to meet my dad and ask his permission for my hand before we did. So he made it happen! Chuck got a passport and we booked our trip! My dad was very nervous because I had never brought a boyfriend to Mexico in the past but they hit it off great. Where I was overjoyed that they were getting along and I was able to show Chuck the beauty that is Mexico and the culture I love... Him and my Dad had already started planning a proposal here. Chuck had mentioned the idea of proposing in Mexico but never gave any hints while we were there so I had no idea. While Chuck and I were exploring the different attractions and traditions of Mexico, He was searching for the perfect spot for the proposal. On a day that I was spending some time with my aunts and cousins, Chuck went with my dad to a Jewelry store to purchase a ring that was made in Mexico! On the last day that we were in town my dad had said we're going to take the family to Xochimilco, a beautiful part of southern Mexico City that is know for their decorative river boats. Even this didn't strike me as suspicious since my dad had mentioned wanting to go here for years and the best way to take a trip there is with all the family! So we all meet where you dock the boats and to my surprise they had written me and Chuck's name on the boat!! The ride was so relaxing! My family was singing and playing music and Chuck and I were taking in all the sights and vendors tailing our boat! Next thing I know Chuck says 'I wish there was a nice spot to dance' and guides me towards the front of the boat. We hug and sway and just look ahead at the rest of the tourists. Little did I know, behind me a mariachi band had climbed aboard and my dad was starting to record on his phone. Chuck had given my dad the signal and steps away from me and gets down on one knee.
