The first time we met, we were sitting next to each in a friend's small Japanese apartment. Before meeting, I (Aliena) had always been comfortable that I was "a nerd, but not a Dungeons & Dragons-level nerd." That changed as we sat next to each other twice a month, scrunched up that ridiculous couch having ridiculous adventures. It wasn't love at first sight. It was hours spent sitting awkwardly close to each other, looking at spell notes and character sheets. It was evening breaks to walk to the corner convenience store together and a lot of text messages. Then it was awkward flirting. While I was on a train home from Kyoto and he was on a train to Aikido practice, we decided to start dating "for real". More than seven years later, we have traveled back across the world, to different homes and new chapters of life, and we've done it all together. After seven years of shared memories and increasingly immature jokes, all we wish for are decades more of the same thing. Please join us in celebrating that wish. We love you all.
