We met in the most romantic of places: a managerial accounting class. At the time we were both sophmores at Butler University. We didn't interact much during that semester, but left with an impression. Robert thought Alicia was cute and smart. Alicia noticed Rob's easy-going nature and sense of humor. It wasn't until a few years later when we were (secretly) excited to find ourselves in another class together that a friendship, and eventually a romantic connection, started to grow. When saw each other at social gatherings we gravitated towards one another. It wasn’t uncommon for us to talk early into the morning (a feat for Alicia, who loves a 10pm bedtime). With a push from our mutual friends, we began dating our senior year. Since those early days, our love for each other has only 'accrued' (accounting pun!). We have loved growing through our 20's together. There were several years in which we were long distance: Alicia was in DC & Guatemala, and Robert was in Indianapolis. We each supported each other in our own independent explorations of our careers and uncovering what we each wanted our futures to look like. While we were apart, we cherished any moment we had together: whether it was trying new foods, sharing time with friends, or traveling. (Highlights: Alicia notoriously 'dragging' Robert up a volcano in Guatemala and Robert teaching Alicia how much she hates skiing. It was all sooooo much fun!). Our affection for each other only grew and we decided to take the leap and move to DC in 2018. Since then we have continued to merge our lives together: developing & deepening friendships, supporting one another through a global pandemic, celebrating new dreams that have emerged, and sprinking it all with a dry sense of humor and some wit. (Highlight: We became (dog) parents to an adorable goldendoodle named William! You will see he is highly featured throughout this site). While we have know each other was 'the one' since the early days, it was July of 2022 that we made our committment to one another official. Robert popped the question surrounded by the Swiss Alps (because mountains are Alicia's favorite!), right next to a decatent display of flowers, candles, and a delicious chocolate cake (because dessert is Robert's favorite!). Now, we are extremely grateful to have so many of the people that we love come together for our Big Day. From accounting class to 'accounting' on each other for life.
