We almost didn't meet each other. Caelan, a new transfer student at UC Irvine and a junior, almost joined Dragonboat racing, instead of Phi Alpha Delta, Pre-Law Fraternity (PAD), where we ended up meeting. Alexis' friends had been trying to get her to join PAD for over a year, and she luckily finally decided to join the quarter Caelan did. We both settled on joining PAD, became co-pledge captains, and quickly hit it off. We dated throughout the rest of college and decided to move to Washington, D.C. together soon after, aiming to have a fun adventure. After a [slightly disastrous] cross-country drive, complete with a car crash, the stomach flu, driving through summer thunderstorms, and too many corn fields, we arrived in Alexandria, VA. Nine months later, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, and our adventure quickly took an unexpected turn. Now, more than three years later, with 7 jobs between us, 4 apartments, a graduate degree, and a pandemic cat named Azula, we're both happily employed by the federal government and loving life in Arlington. We're excited to begin this new chapter and can't wait for all the adventures to come!
