The best place to stay the night of the wedding is close to Hamme/Waasmunster, where our venue is. You can find more details on the the travel section of our website, including a block of rooms at the nearby Hotel Serwir. Waasmunster is a rural Dutch-speaking area about an hour outside of Brussels (close to the town where Simon grew up, Sinaai). You can reach it by train + taxi or rental car. There's not much to see in the town itself, so I would recommend only staying in or around there the night of the wedding, or staying in Brussels and commuting from there (we may arrange shuttles if needed). You're also welcome to stay in Ghent or Antwerp the night of the wedding, which are both about a 30-minute drive. However, we won't be providing shuttles from there so your best option is a taxi or Uber. The night before the wedding (May 29), we recommend staying in Brussels if you'll be attending the welcome dinner (for family & out of town guests). If you plan to stay in Ghent or Antwerp, you can get to Brussels by train. For the locals (and anyone else who would like to), there will be space around the venue to set up a tent and camp for the night.
Yes! Check the 'Schedule' tab for all the wedding weekend events, including a welcome dinner (May 29) and casual farewell brunch (May 31) for some guests. When you RSVP, you'll see which events we'd like you to join for. Our wedding is 'Belgian style', meaning a second wave of guests will arrive after the ceremony for the cocktail hour and dinner, and more guests will arrive to pack to the dance floor.
Having you at our wedding is more than enough, but if you'd like to send us a gift, please see the 'Registry' section of our website. Since we chose local websites for delivery, our gifts will take you to the store website to order, where you can input our details: Alex Vickery & Simon Cerfontaine Rue de la Plume 1/16 Brussels 1000 phone: +32 470677306 email: alexnvickery@gmail.com Alternatively, there are dedicated funds you can donate to. If you're in Europe and would like to send us a monetary gift, the easiest way is to send it to us directly: https://revolut.me/alexan0m7k
We prefer our celebration to be an adults-only evening 🥂🪩 However, we understand that traveling from abroad and leaving your little ones at home might not be an option for you. If that's an obstacle for you, please let us know.
Two very important things to be aware of: the beers are strong and the dancing will go until the wee hours. Aside from that, it might be good to pick up a couple of phrases in French and Dutch. Brussels is predominantly French speaking (go ahead and break out the 'merci'), although most people speak English. Our ceremony & reception will take place in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. Everyone at the wedding speaks great English, but throwing out a 'dankuwel' instead of a 'thank you' is always appreciated 😊
Great question. Belgium is not known for its blue skies, however we wanted to get married in May because it will *hopefully* be warm and sunny then, with the sun setting around 10pm. If we get the spring weather we're hoping for, we'll get daytime temps in the 70s & nighttime in the 60s 🤞🏼 That said, Belgium loves surprises, so it could just as well be cold and rainy (but hopefully it got it out of its system this year).
Yes! There's plenty of parking available at the venue.
