Jay has worked here at the best tequila bar in Birmingham for over two years, great staff, atmosphere and drinks, you can't beat it! We highly recommend it, get a spot on the roof for an awesome view. It is also home to Mezon Food Truck and catering for the best Mexican food in town filled with vegan, vegetarian, and plenty of meat options to choose from. You absolutely have to come here, be sure to tell the staff (our second family) you're apart of the Vega Wedding party!

Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a large interpretive museum and research center located downtown that depicts the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. We recommend visit to this museum as Birmingham was a significant site of civil rights activities in 1963, when it served as the headquarters of the campaign to desegregate public accommodations.
The Birmingham Art Museum has one of the most extensive collections of artwork in the Southeastern United States, with more than 24,000 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, and decorative arts representing numerous cultures, including Asian, European, American, African, Pre-Columbian, and Native American. It is great place to admire world-wide art by yourself or with your plus-one! Open free to the public!
Wondering who that giant lit up man in the horizon is? Take a day visit to the Vulcan Park and Museum! This park is a wonderful place to unwind and relax while also enjoying the view of the entire city of Birmingham. It also has a wonderful walking and running trail. If you get tickets, you can actually go inside of the statue and snap a few pics!
The Alabama Theatre is a movie palace located downtown. It was built in 1927 by Paramount's Publix Theatre chain as its flagship theater for the southeastern region of the United States. They play movies and host Broadway shows inside this BEAUTIFULLY decorated theater, it is a must see while visiting the area! Located right across the street is the amazing Shu shop, that has a large selection of sake and the BEST ramen bowls! Friendly to vegans as well.

The Birmingham Zoo is a zoological park that opened in 1955 a few miles outside of downtown. The Birmingham Zoo is an independent, not for profit, 501 organization, and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, participating in AZA Species Survival Plans. It is the only AZA accredited zoo in the state of Alabama, meaning it meets the highest standards for animal care and welfare. Approximately 550 animals of 195 species call the Birmingham Zoo home, including sea lions, zebras, rhinos, elephants, and other endangered species from six continents. Great place to visit for the whole family!
For the kids we suggest the McWane Science Center. This is a science museum and research archive located in downtown Birmingham. The theater is housed in the historic and refurbished Loveman's department store building. There are four floors of interactive exhibits that celebrate science and wonder - from an amazing collection of dinosaurs to innovative environmental showcases, imaginative early childhood playgrounds, and an awe-inspiring aquarium. The energy and excitement of discovery spring to life through an extensive lineup of science demonstrations performed daily by talented educators. The adventure continues in the IMAX(R) Dome Theater, where you can experience the sights and sounds of breathtaking films on a 5-story-tall screen surrounded by 3 tons of high-intensity speakers.
This is an amazing greenspace in the middle of downtown Birmingham, a great place for exercise or just casual walking. There are events held here often, including exercise classes, movies, concerts, and food truck rallies. There is parking available around the perimeter of the park and the blocks surrounding. There is a constant police presence and 24 hour camera security for your safety. Equipped with restrooms, water fountains, vending machines, and nearby restaurants for food, you have to check it out! Take a walk, catch a ball game at Regions Field, grab some grub or coffee at Red Cat Cafe or a cold beer at Good People Brewery which are located right across the street! Walk the full trail to see the Magic City Sign and take a picture!
