How We Met

8.14.2018

We met up at a local bar in Brooklyn after a mutual friend set us up on a blind date. Upon meeting we talked for hours. We laughed and traded stories of our past over a couple of drinks, silently making note of how much we shared in common with one another. Jay offered to show me around her hometown and the lesser known hidden gems of New York. By the time I had to leave to return to Philadelphia, we realized how quickly time had passed. We exchanged goodbyes and promised to remain in close contact, and visit frequently. We kept those promises, and the moments we shared together are some we will never forget. Those memories helped mold a solid foundation for a loving relationship. Jay has been my best friend and partner for 3.5 years now, and I can confidently say they are my other half. Jay unexpectedly changed my life for the better, and I'm so grateful to have them as my future wife. Here's to our next adventure!

The Proposal

8.26.2021

On our trip in Puerto Rico, we were scouring the streets of Old San Juan looking for a local jewelry shop to buy a couple necklaces from. We came across a small son and pop shop, while peering through the glass cases, my eyes landed on a beautifully handmade gold and diamond ring, and I knew it was meant for Alex. I sent her to go get some souvenirs for friends while I purchased the ring without her knowledge. A couple days later, we had an amazing day of snorkeling, boating, and hiking. We planned on finishing the day by having dinner at one of the best restaurants on the island, whom I had called earlier to arrange a very special night for the two of us. We shared a delicious dinner, with great wine and exotic desserts over dimly lit candles and a rose petal covered table. It was our last night in Puerto Rico, and I asked Alex to stand so the waitress could take our picture together. I then turned toward Alex, dropped down on one knee, surprised her with the ring I bought, and asked her to marry me. A stream of tears ran down her cheeks and, in an Alex fashion, she asked "are you sure," I smiled and reassured her that she's the one, she cried "Yes!" We were officially engaged!
