The Traverse City area boasts around 50 wineries - one of the biggest things its known for! You can hire a guide/bus to take you around or do a self-guided tour (make sure you have a DD!). If you decide beer is more your style, there are about 15 breweries in the area that you can hop around to that tours are also available for. Check out this kayak, bike and brew tour >> https://www.traversecity.com/listings/kayak-bike-%26-brew/1661/
This beautiful area of coastline is a popular place to visit to enjoy the day along the water either on the bike or exploring the hiking trails. If you are feeling adventurous, try to make it to the top of the dunes. Be aware though, you are in for a workout!
The turquoise blue waters of the bay will not go unnoticed. Go out and enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air out on the water! The are several rental companies for boats/jet skis/pontoons, etc. You can also take a boat tour. Just as a heads up, the water stays on the cold side all year!
Walking downtown, you will find a variety of boutiques, galleries, restaurants and shops (Cherry Republic is a must and hello, free samples!). Enjoy the scenery along the riverwalk or taking a stroll along the bay. The city is very pedestrian-friendly :) If you would like to explore a wider radius, bike rentals are available. We have used this company and they are great: https://www.brickwheels.com
