Flight
Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) is the closest airport, but has limited flight services. Flights to/from larger international airports in the surrounding area will be cheaper and more frequent than flying into MRY. These include: SJC – Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (75 miles, 1.5 hr drive) OAK – Oakland International Airport (105 miles, 2 hr drive) SFO – San Francisco International Airport (110 miles, 2 hr drive)
Travel Note
For guests who will be driving, there are two routes to Carmel by car: Highway 1, which runs from San Francisco to Los Angeles along the Pacific coastline, and US Route 101, which runs through the rich valley. Here are some estimated driving times from major California cities: San Jose – approximately 1.5 hour Oakland – approximately 2 hours San Francisco – approximately 2 hours Los Angeles – approximately 5.5 hours

If you are flying in, we would strongly recommend renting a car in order to take full advantage of all Carmel and the surrounding area has to offer! Rental Car
If you prefer not to rent a car, the Monterey Airbus offers a shuttle to/from SFO and SJC for a minimal fee.
House Or Rental
Renting through AirBnb or VRBO can be a great option for some! There are lots of properties in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley, Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Big Sur.

We have secured room blocks at the Hyatt Monterey and Bernardus Lodge, but we know there are so many fantastic places to stay. If you have a favorite place or you are just looking to try somewhere new, please do! Carmel is a truly wonderful gem with something for everyone.
