Andrew and Alexandra had their very own "meet cute" on the Metro-North train. At the time both were living in Westchester and were heading home after nights out in NYC. Andrew was out to celebrate signing on his new apartment and Alexandra was out meeting friends with Dana Goin, who, unbeknownst to Alexandra, was also a childhood friend of Andrew's. The stars aligned on what is usually a dismal 1:50am train ride home when Andrew happened to walk into the very same car where Alexandra and Dana had chosen their seats. Andrew came over and sat himself right in between the two and Alexandra was immediately smitten. She confessed to Dana she thought Andrew was cute and Dana immediately became matchmaker. The two had their first date a week later and the rest is history.
When you not only live with, but also work from home a mere 10 feet away from your partner, planning a surprise proposal is no easy task, but Andrew was up for the challenge. With help from the couple's friends, especially Hannah Traulsen who designed an engagement ring that is truly a work of art, Andrew devised a plan to propose to at Flushing Meadows. Under the false pretense that they were meeting friends for a barbecue, and on what felt like the hottest day of the year, Andrew guided Alexandra all over the park pretending to "look for the group." Once in front of the famous Unisphere - and once Alexandra was near a breaking point - Andrew finally revealed that there was no barbecue and nervously dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him.
