It really is the greatest store in the universe. You absolutely must stop here. Even if you’re just window shopping, it’s a required Des Moines vibe-check. Fun Fact: Alexandra did a one-day job shadow here in middle school!
Fong's Pizza
You can't leave Des Moines without trying the Crab Rangoon pizza as featured on Barstool Sports: One Bite - Everyone Knows the Rules. It's so good that we may even stop here during the Welcome Crawl.
Casey's
Yes, we are highly recommending a gas station (any location) for the Breakfast Pizza. Alexandra’s pick is the Sausage; Andrew goes for the Bacon. Another Barstool stop! Aim for the morning hours when they have fresh slices ready to go.
Zombie Burger and Drink Lab
The best (and most unique) "Gourmet Gutter" burgers in the city. It’s order-at-the-counter service with a heavy artsy atmosphere. Alexandra’s Pick: The "Undead Elvis" (Peanut butter, fried bananas, bacon, American cheese, and mayo). Andrew's Pick: "The Cremator" (ghost pepper cheese, onion rings, fried jalapeño, chipotle mayo, house hot sauce).
The Iowa Taproom
They don't sell Iowa's favorite water (Busch Light "Lattes"), but they do only pour beer brewed in Iowa. Iowans are a very proud people - come here to taste why.

If nature isn’t your thing, get political. The gold-domed Capitol is one of the most beautiful in the country and is a great spot for a quick architecture tour.
