This past summer Alex and I decided to spend a weekend in Flagstaff, one of our favorite spots in Arizona, to escape the brutal summer heat of Phoenix. We spent the morning mountain biking and then had a well earned lunch and beer at one of the local breweries. After this, Alex suggested we go for a hike, which if you know Alex, him suggesting two activities in one day is VERY weird. He played it off well and convinced me we needed to take advantage of the nice weather since it was so hot in Phoenix. He didn't need to try hard to convince me though, I was all for it. We went up to Mt. Humphreys and walked the beautiful Aspen grove trail. It eventually opened up to a small lake that overlooked the mountains, a great spot to stop and hang out. As I was babbling about how beautiful the wild flowers were and how I wanted sit and paint the view, Alex was trying to play it cool... I don't think he heard a word of my babbling. Eventually he popped the question and I couldn't have been more surprised. We returned to his aunt's house where his cousin was waiting with a bottle of champagne and snacks to celebrate the surprise. I think its safe to say all our hearts were full of happiness that this had FINALLY come.
