We’re getting married!

Although we grew up just 10 minutes from one another and attended the same high school, we were not fated to meet until after college through mutual high school friends. A close friendship began to form over the next year and when we found out that we both enjoyed camping, we started planning trips together with our dogs who were best friends. We both enjoyed being outdoors and continued finding new adventures as our friendship began to blossom into something more. Near the end of 2017, we had planned a trip to camp in The Great Smoky Mountains and visit Alex’s family in Tennessee and Georgia along the way. Days before we were set to leave, we confessed our feelings for each other that had been developing over several months. It was on that trip just after the peach dropped on New Years in Atlanta that Alex officially asked Katy to be his girlfriend. It became a tradition over the next few years for us to take a trip to a different city each year to celebrate New Years and our anniversary. We visited Nashville, Washington DC and eventually at the end of 2020, “The Big Apple.” It was right there in Times Square on New Year’s Eve (in front of the world’s largest Applebees) that Alex proposed on live television during an interview for Spectrum News. We’ve waited over 5 long years to celebrate this day and share it with loved ones. It has been a long time coming, but we look forward to having you there with us on our special day!
