We have gone on many a walk here together. If you're lucky, you'll see some turtles in the Japanese garden, ducks in the pond, and beautiful flowers in the Centennial gardens.
We went ice skating here on our first date! It's also home to 400+ shops and 60+ eateries, making a great way to pass some time.
Thanks to its location just minutes from campus, we frequented these shops and restaurants during our undergrad years! Stop by for a snack or some light shopping.
Walking the outer loop of Rice University (a .4 mile walk from the Intercontinental Hotel) is a favorite Houston pastime—an inviting, tree-lined path that circles the campus for about 2.9 miles. Whether you're out for a relaxed stroll, a brisk walk, or a steady jog, the loop offers shaded sidewalks, views of beautiful campus architecture, and a friendly flow of fellow walkers and runners. It’s an easy, scenic way to get in a few miles while enjoying one of the city’s most iconic green spaces.
Inside the campus, there’s also a paved inner loop, roughly 1 mile long. This path takes you around Rice’s historic quad and campus, passing iconic buildings like Lovett Hall and art installations (including the James Turrell Skyspace), giving walkers a front-row seat to the university’s architecture and calm green spaces
