FAQs

Question

Why Oaxaca?

Answer

Lucero’s roots are Oaxacan. Both parents were born in the state of Oaxaca. Her father is of Zapotec descent coming from a small village 1.5 hours southwest from Oaxaca de Juarez. While her mother is of Mixteco descent coming from a village 2.5 hours north. After her father's passing, she felt very connected to him here. When we raised Oaxaca as an option for the wedding, we decided to visit together. Alex fell in love with it as much as I was.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by February 15, 2024. We will reach out to those who have not RSVPed by this date.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Most events have a description of attire. The night before the wedding is semi-floral while focusing on the color scheme red & pink. Dress to impress - Cocktail formal. This is a formal wedding. But we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it all hang loose. Also, please make sure to bring comfortable shoes for the Calenda. We will be walking around the city for about 30 minutes before making our way to the venue for the reception.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Seating for the ceremony begins at 3pm. The ceremony will begin at 3:30pm.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Plus ones have been granted on invitations. However, if you did not receive one and would like one, please feel free to reach out. We will try and accommodate if possible.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We do! Please refer to the “Travel” section of this website to review all our shared options. There are definitely a lot more options than the ones shared. There are also quite a few AirBnbs in the area.

Question

Should I eat before the wedding?

Answer

Please note that dinner will not be served until 7 PM. There will be some passed hors d'oeuvres during happy hour. We encourage everyone to eat something prior to the wedding so you are not famished. Dinner will be a three-course menu with appetizer, main entree, and dessert.

Question

What is there to do in Oaxaca?

Answer

Lots! Eat your way through the city or visit many of the local attractions. We will also be sharing a list of tours you can sign up for through our wedding planner. More details will be added in the following weeks. Each tour will need 15 people minimum.
