Brittney's Version: We met through good ole Bumble. On Bumble, girls make the first move; so I asked Alex my "go to" question: What's the first thing you'd do if you won the lottery? His response was: buy his parents a house. I thought it was a kind and thoughtful response. In retrospect, it really describes Alex. We chatted briefly on the app before I asked if he wanted to get together. Alex picked a date and location, and the first date was set. I almost canceled our first date, but I made it. We had to change the plans, and we found a perfect corner of a bar to chat for a few hours. Later, we shared pizza at Artichoke. Alex affectionally always reminds me that I asked him if he wanted a bite of my pizza. After that, I knew he was a good one, but I wasn't convinced. It took me some time to come around, but eventually I decided that I really liked this silly, sweet guy who always makes me smile. Alex's Version: One would say my greatest fortune in my entire adult life is Brittney swiping right on my Bumble Dating App profile, thus sparking the greatest romance this side of the Hudson River. I couldn't miss noticing her genuine, beautiful smile in all her photos; but most importantly, she appeared she did not take herself too seriously. Brittney's first message to me was a simple question: What would I do first if I won the lottery? My answer was - which whole heartedly impressed her so much she instantly fell in love with me - I would give a significant share of my winnings to my parents. From there on, we talked about traveling, what we do, her love of animals, and eventually I was bold enough to ask her out on a first date. I picked a nice, East Village wine bar as our first outing together because I didn't want her to travel far, and who doesn't like wine? I arrived early and found the wine bar to be too crowded and too loud to have an intimate first date. Typical East Village. I arrived first and waited a few minutes, totally not nervous, and standing in my vest attire. After all, the vest is the best. Suddenly... my eyes caught wind of a beautiful, blonde woman wearing a jean jacket with a black dress walking straight to me. I held my breath, told myself to be calm, and we both said hello. I saw her beautiful smile in person for the first time, and I knew this is the Brittney I was supposed to meet. We picked another, nearby wine bar and walked over together. Our date ended up going well. We were able to sit at the corner of the bar so we didn't have to always be awkwardly turning to one another to talk. Pizza was next, and when I walked her to the corner of the street her apartment was located, I bid her a goodnight and secretly hoped I will have the chance to see her again. Little did I know, it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
