Alec and Kayla met and became friends during their senior year of high school. Their mutual love of ceramics brought them together, but it was their other shared interests such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, snowboarding, motorcycling, and ongoing competition of who can stay up later that sealed the deal. The next 7 years encompassed adventure and change: attending college, too many trips to Europe, moving in together, attending grad school, motorcycling to the west coast, adopting Roo, and so much more. In one of the most surprising moments of her life so far, Alec asked Kayla to marry him on June 29, 2019, in the company of friends, Nick and Lindsay. Kayla was adamant the moment be caught on tape, so a double date was the perfect cover. After repeatedly asking if it was for real, she excitedly accepted, and Alec declared "SURPRISE, MOTHERF*(K3R!" Now, almost 8 years later, Alec and Kayla made the decision to move to Hawai'i.
