Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

The wedding is intentionally scheduled on a Monday to allow guests ample time to travel to Italy during the weekend and get adjusted to the time difference. We will kick off with a welcome party on Saturday, September 27th. We recommend taking an overnight flight on Thursday or Friday night, arriving by Saturday morning. This will provide some time to get situated, acclimate to the time zone, explore the city, and prepare for the festivities ahead! We imagine that those who are able to stay will take the remaining part of the week to travel around Italy / Europe before heading home. All of that being said, we encourage guests to travel and explore however they desire!

Question

What is the best way to get to Florence?

Answer

We recommend flying into Florence or Rome. Please see the "Travel" section of this website for more info.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Please see the "Travel" section for the hotels we recommend, and please read the note regarding wedding shuttle transport.

Question

Will there be transportation to the wedding venue?

Answer

Shuttles will be provided to transport guests from a pickup location in Florence, to the wedding venue, and back at the end of the night. The bus will leave promptly at 3:30 pm for pickup, and there will be waves returning to Florence at the end of the night: the first around midnight, the last at 2 am. The wedding venue is a 15 minute drive from Florence. Please see the bottom of the "Travel" section for important info regarding transport to and from the venue.

Question

Is Uber available?

Answer

Uber is technically available in Italy, however, it is not the Uber you know and love. You cannot expect to open up the Uber app and find a ride on demand, and you will find that any available rides are expensive and more similar to an Uber Black. We suggest using one of the licensed taxi services. Here are your options: Calling a taxi to meet you where you are. You can call 055.4242 or 055.4390 to have a taxi meet you where you are. If you’re dialing from your US number, you’ll need to add +39 in front (0039 055.4242, for example). Use the Florence Taxi apps – the AppTaxi and TAXIMove apps. AppTaxi and TAXIMove give you another way to ‘call’ a taxi, similar to Uber. Have your hotel call a taxi for you. If you want a ride to/from the airport or any other destination, your hotel reception can reserve a ride for you.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! Every person will need a passport to leave the U.S. and enter Italy. The U.S. State Department recommends that you have at least six-months of validity remaining on your passport whenever you travel abroad. Generally at least 3 months of validity beyond your planned date of departure from the EU is required for entrance. Check the expiration date on your passport ASAP before traveling to Europe to ensure it does not need to be renewed.

Question

You will need an etias visa!

Answer

The EU is working on developing the ETIAS system for its implementation in 2025. ETIAS is a travel authorization waiver that will screen travelers before they can travel to the region. ETIAS will be a mandatory requirement for travelers visiting Italy starting in 2025. The ETIAS waiver for Italy will be available through an online application that can be easily filled out in a matter of minutes. To get the ETIAS waiver, you must complete the ETIAS online form with your passport details and personal information. Please visit: www.etiasitaly.com/etias-application To travel to Europe in 2025, eligible travelers are expected to complete their ETIAS application before traveling to the ETIAS countries.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The attire is black-tie preferred. Long dresses for women, colorful gowns and dresses are encouraged! Tuxedos or a dark suit & tie for men. The ceremony will be on grass, and the cocktail hour will be on gravel in the Italian Garden. Stiletto heels are not recommended.
