Getting to Bar Harbor
If you plan to fly in, we recommend Bangor International Airport, located about one hour from Bar Harbor. For those traveling from farther away or hoping to explore more of Maine or New England, flying into Portland or Boston may offer additional (and cheaper!) direct flight options. We recommend renting a car for ease of travel to Bar Harbor from the airport.
Once in Bar Harbor, there is a free Island Explorer Shuttle that goes throughout the town and Acadia National Park, though service is limited to daytime hours. Rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft are not consistently reliable in the area.
We recommend booking flights and accommodations early, as Bar Harbor is a popular summer destination!
