Things To Do

The Wedding Website of James Bonner and Aisling Hagerup
If you’re in the area and find yourself with some extra time- or you planned it that way- here are a few places worth exploring. Lots of these places have restaurants, too, if you’re looking for somewhere to eat!
Reston Town Center

Reston Town Center

Reston, Virginia

A bustling area packed with shops and restaurants. There’s also a movie theater, an ice rink, and a pretty city park. If you’re in the area and looking for somewhere to eat, this is it. It’s directly accessible by Metro if you’re staying at the hotel, but there’s a handful of cheap parking garages as well.

Great Falls Park

Great Falls Park

9200 Old Dominion Dr, McLean, VA 22102

Great Falls is a beautiful National Park with stunning views of the Potomac and the Maryland border. It’s a relatively easy hike and a great way to spend an afternoon outdoors. If you’re staying at the Hilton in Tyson’s Corner, it’s about a 20 minute drive. There is an entrance fee ($20 per vehicle), but it’s worth the view!

Lake Anne

Lake Anne

1609 Washington Plaza N, Reston, VA 20190

Lake Anne has everything- shops, restaurants, Aisling’s favorite bookstore- oh, and a lake! Rent a paddle boat or kayak or walk the perimeter of the water… then cool off at one of a few unique restaurants or the Lake Anne Brew House. On Saturday mornings (8am-12pm) there’s even a farmer’s market!

Wolf Trap National Park

Wolf Trap National Park

1551 Trap Rd, Vienna, VA 22182

It’s not just a music (or wedding) venue! Separate from The Barns (where our ceremony will be), Wolf Trap also hosts a beautiful 2.5 mile loop through woods and meadows, over creeks, and alongside beautiful gardens. Scope out part of what makes The Barns so special to us before we walk down the aisle!

Old Town

Old Town

Alexandria, VA

Old Town is an absolutely charming part of Alexandria, full of quaint shops, great restaurants, and beautiful homes. Walk along the waterfront (check out all the historical markers!) or stroll around town before you grab a drink or sit down for a meal.

Washington D.C.

Washington D.C.

Washington, DC

Plenty to do in the Capital! Take the Metro in (from the McLean station, if you’re staying at the hotel or nearby- it’s about an hour ride) or drive and spend the day exploring. The Smithsonian museums and the Tidal Basin (where the cherry trees are in spring!) are particular favorites, but the city has more than enough to offer for anyone looking for something to do.

Hilton McLean Tysons Corner

7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, VA 22102
, (703) 847-5000

Just as a point of reference- here’s our hotel! The Hilton does have a bar and restaurant if you don’t want to go anywhere, but there’s plenty of places in the surrounding area if you’d like to get something to eat or drink.

Tysons Galleria

2001 International Drive, McLean, VA 22102

Tysons Galleria is a big, upscale mall that's very close to the hotel (about a ten minute walk). Lots of classic shops and restaurants here!
