We met outside of Caprioska, a nightclub in Columbia during the late summer of 2012. That's a long time ago, right? I saw him from across the room and thought to myself, "he's kinda cute" and took a mental note of him- for if we ever were to interact, I would be prepared to talk to him. When the night commenced, everyone was standing outside, you know how we do once the club is over and everyone is deciding their next move... he was standing within ear shot speaking to his friends as I was with mine. I felt his eye dart across the way so when our eyes connected... I motioned him to come over to me. When he came over, I noticed that he was much taller than I thought. Between the smell of his cologne, his well-groomed appearance and his cool, calm and collected demeanor... I thought, I want to go out with him and see where it goes. I did something that I never do!!!!... I went ahead and asked him. He agreed and we exchanged numbers. At least, that's what I thought. A few weeks later, I see him again at Caprioska. He and his friend came up to me on the dancefloor, we starting talking... he asked, "what happened, I never heard from you." I said, "yeah you gave me the wrong number (showing him the number I had saved). Realizing I had the wrong number, we started again and finally went out on a date. It was a nice date to say the least, because he we are. *************************************************************************************** Although we met in 2012, we didn't decide to seriously date or become official until 2013. At the time I was a single mother of my young daughter, Taniya and my little brother, a new graduate of Benedict College- where we share many friends and acquaintances, and unsure of what a serious relationship would look like. We fell in love and enjoyed many years of dating. In December of 2015, we found out we were pregnant with our son Liam and soooo many things changed. Our relationship as parents proved to be proof that "I got it right, this time." Terrell has shown himself to be a loving and involved father who provides for not only his biological son but also our daughter, Taniya. He includes her as his own and his family has been amazing to us as well. *************************************************************************************** To know us as a couple: I am the social butterfly where Terrell is not...as much, he is the cool, calm reserved one until he is comfortable being himself. Terrell is a straight shooter, assertive- where I have a more gingerly approach and likes to avoid conflict. I am a passionate spirit, Terrell is the logical of the two of us. He is quick-wittedly funny. I have been told I am too, but I believe it's more of my Leo-like dramatics and unintentional humor that makes people laugh with me. I guess, you could say opposites attract! *************************************************************************************** Fast forward to 2023... after the separation of our relationship in 2020, we found our way back to each other. Through prayer, counseling and having hard conversations, and setting new boundaries and expectations for the individuals we had become over the years we became an official couple, again on October 21, 2023! He proposed and I was shocked! During the months prior, he spoke to my parents to get their blessing, a few of our close friends and our therapist behind the scenes about his plans to propose. He decided to propose during the Benedict College Homecoming tailgate, in front of everyone as we were taking a photo (what I now know was a ruse to get everyone in one place). I was completely surprised, let me say that again. I said " (nothing, nodding my head)" yes! I am eternally blessed and grateful for where we are in our relationship as we move forward to planning our lives together... the right way!
