How We Met

Sometime in 2013/2014...we think

It's blurry on the exact date that we met but we both agree it was in Red Rocks, Nevada during the Red Rock Rendezvous. We both would attend that event to kickstart our climbing season, social season and travel season. Aimee was there for work and Jeremy was there to play...I mean work! We both attracted the same friends (you know who you are!) and it wasn't long before we were introduced. Aimee meet Jeremy. Jeremy meet Aimee. Big, giant smiles and lots of laughing. Bonnie Springs, multi-pitch climbs, karaoke and dance parties. Two people full of joy with an amazing crew of lovely people. Many joining us at the wedding and we are stoked! It just so happened that our work and travel schedules would frequently overlap at film festivals, climbing events, and non-profit fundraisers. Each time, we were excited to catch up on each others lives. Aimee checking in on Jeremy's family and Jeremy curious of what Aimee had planned next. Aimee's cross country drives to see friends on the east coast and family in the mid-west sometimes meant a recharge, coffee stop in KC. Jumping jacks, espresso and a hug between friends. Life is an unpredictable roller coaster as we all know and we can't always control where the wind takes us, but we were brought together to heal, repair and lift each other up. We believe in pursuing our dreams, staying positive and trusting each other. Aimee admired his adventurous spirit and was inspired by his beautiful drawings. She loved seeing him be a dad and watching him teach Zion and Sela to seek and explore. We are excited for what the future holds and to hold each other in the future. Thanks to all of you for being a part of our journey. We love you!

Our Proposal

June 30, 2020

Last June, we were packed up like the Beverly Hillbillies on a road trip to Kansas City. Pogo was in the backseat, her ears riding wind waves, earning grins from fellow road warriors in the foothills of Zion Canyon. It had the start of a typical road trip except the destination was a new home in Kansas City, and I hadn't even seen it yet! Day Two of our adventure brought us to Zion National Park, a place that we both fell in love with as individuals long before our planets collided. When making the commute from KC to LA, we always drive through Zion and always make a short stop to walk the grounds of the Thunderbird Gallery and Maynard Dixon's last home & studio. There was nothing too out of the ordinary happening outside of a eerily, desolate pandemic road trip, so I didn't even think a marriage proposal was on the horizon. In the back of Jeremy's mind, he had remembered a promise he made to me. We would move into our first house together as an engaged couple, not just two lovebirds. This was something he planned for quite some time down to the custom design of the engagement ring and this stop at the Dixon house to walk through the cottonwoods and yucca. As I watched Pogo roll over the grassy lawn, Jeremy called me over. He was standing on the small bridge crossing over the tiny creek that flows through the property. A bridge we had crossed many times but this would be different. He asked for a hug and kiss and I could feel his heart racing like the Virgin River. His face was red. His eyes focused. He was silently fumbling around with his hands. I thought it was the onset of a heart attack so I asked if he was ok. As my concern grew, he began to take a knee. All of the sudden I knew. I asked for him to stand up but instead he reached out his hand with a ring. "Will you do life with me, Aimee?", he asked. Tears flowing down our faces.
