USE THIS LINK: https://www.instagram.com/adpdwedding/ STARTS 07/25 @1:25 EST We will be hosting a Instagram livestream for those who want to see the ceremony but are unable attend. You can view the Instagram profile (Name: adpdwedding) on a web browser or the Instagram app! I would recommend following the account to make it easier to find when you would like to see the livestream. The account is public so you should be able to see everything without following the account! You will be able to access Instagram on your phone using the app or you can use a web browser as well. My good friend Josh will be the one monitoring the account and making sure the livestream is working.
Many phone services will automatically notice you are international and will attempt to switch your data to an international phone plan. We have found that is it typically A LOT cheaper to turn off your data and use an internet messaging app. The list of apps that allow you to call and text are Instagram, WhatsApp, Viber, SnapChat. There are apps or services that allow you to add mobile data to your phone (not messaging/calls from your SIM) and then you can use on the internet messaging apps. The app we are familiar for mobile data is called Airalo where you can select what country you are in and how much data you want. This is what we have done when we go international. THERE WILL BE A GROUP CHAT on the Viber app (we recommend using this for your communication needs and this is how you can contact us). WE RECOMMEND FIGURING THIS OUT BEFORE STARTING YOUR TRAVEL!! As soon as possible for the hotel. It is usually better to reverse plane tickets as far in advance as possible however some deal hunters may want to wait to see if prices dip.
At least 6 months ahead
Almost everyone you will encounter in the city will be able to speak English enough to communicate the basics if not more.
Although most places will have Greek written first. Most popular places will have English written as well. Most restaurants will have an English menu if asked.
It is recommended to at least have a 100 Euro (small bills if possible) with you as not every place will have a card reader. Most places will prefer cash over card but can take card if needed.
Most places will allow for the use of card. We recommend having a credit card with no foreign transaction fees.
It is always good to be cautious however in the popular areas of the city there is a large night life. There will be a lot of people around during the night time, walking, eating and enjoying the cooler evenings. Please mind any purses or loose items with you that may be pick- pocketted.
There will be a bus provided that will be leaving/returning to/from the city center, Plateia Aristotelous. Additional details to come.
Greece is HOT. Please wear clothing that you would wear to the beach on the hottest day of the year. Hats and sunglasses are highly encouraged.
Sunscreen, beach towel, sunglasses, hat, insulated water bottle, sandals, book, beach bag, card games (maybe even a floaty).
No but you are heavily encouraged. What matters is the effort, not being perfect! Everyone will be very excited you are taking part.
No, you are more than welcome to use one of the rideshare apps to get yourself home.
Do not drink the tap water. It is recommended to get a bottle of water and every restaurant when asked for water will get you a bottle.
YES! Please come prepared for heat. There is typically a siesta time between 12:30 - 3:30 as it is usually too hot to be out. The evenings are usually a very comfortable temperature. The wedding and reception will be taking place in the evening. Double check that your stay has air conditioning if thats important to you.
