FAQs

The Wedding Website of Adrienne Martinez and Kinson Desmangles
These are a few of the questions we expect you have but please feel free to send other questions to 3918willowgreen@gmail.com
Question

Do I need to be vaccinated to attend?

Answer

Yes. We are asking all of our guests eligible for a vaccine to be vaccinated for the safety of everyone in attendance. We also invite you to wear a mask if you’d feel most comfortable doing so.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and reception are planned to be outside. Weather this time of year can vary from 50s-70s during the day and chilly at night so please keep watch of the forecast.

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

We are working with the site to arrange a rain plan.

Question

What will the weather be like, so I can pack/plan accordingly?

Answer

The temps will range from 50s-70s in mid November for Charlotte. Right now, a weather predictor shows the high at 61 and low of 49 for the hours of our event. Since most events will be outdoors (so long as there is no rain) we encourage you to bring layers. The good news is our venue is equipped with a tent that has heat lamps and there are also mounted heaters around the space.

Question

Do I need to rent a car if I’m flying in from out of town?

Answer

This is really a personal decision and your comfort in using either public transportation or a ride share app (Lyft/Uber). If this were pre-Covid times we’d say a car isn’t really needed as ride share fares are not too bad getting from place to place, but I've heard that fares have changed and it is sometimes harder to get a car.

Question

What is the attire recommended for the wedding?

Answer

We want you to feel comfortable but also happy to give you a reason to get “dressed up” :) There is no expectation of suits or formal dresses.

Question

What is on the menu for dinner?

Answer

Our wedding will be catered by Dan the Pig Man, which specializes in whole hog barbecue. Here is the detail: - York county hog roasted in a Caja China roasting box. It’s injected with a mojo crillio blend of orange, lime, garlic and onion served in a 150 year old cypress bread trough, served with two types of sauce, a cider vinegar hot sauce and a Lexington style red sauce. - Smoked gruyere, cheddar and Boursin mac and cheese served in cast iron. - Rutherford county moonshine baked beans with country ham served in a cauldron. - Barbecue slaw (no mayo!) of shredded red and green cabbage with sweet carrot. - Elote corn roasted on site with aioli, lime, taijin spice and cilantro, dusted with cotija cheese. - Brioche buns from Suarez bakery in Charlotte.

Question

What if I am a not a pork or meat eater?

Answer

We want to hear from you! Please email us at 3918willowgreen@gmail.com to let us know and we will make arrangements for additional dinner options.

Question

What’s the drink situation?

Answer

We have arranged to have our cocktails and other alcoholic drinks provided by Black Moth Bars. Adults will receive two drink tickets for the bar. Additionally, NoDa Canteen will provide beer and wine for night. No tickets required here. Additionally, we will have water, sweet tea, coffee and hot chocolate available.

Question

Are kids welcome at the wedding?

Answer

YES! We will have our kid there too! LOL. For those coming from out of town or who have never been, the Camp North End Boileryard comes equipped with corn hole, fuze ball, bench swings, and fire pits. We'll also throw in a few additional things to help keep kids or the kids in all of us entertained (bubbles, coloring books and s'mores).

Question

I’ve never been to the wedding venue; how can I learn more?

Answer

Camp North End is a very unique site. It was originally a Ford Motor Company factory erected in 1924, and designed by architect Albert Kahn. It was later bought by the US Army during World War II to serve as a Quartermaster Depot, supplying soldiers at basic training camps all throughout the southeast. You can still see the Army’s inactive train tracks across the site today. During the Cold War, the site’s primary production switched back to its industrial roots and moved into missile development. The US Army referred to the site as CAMP, short for Charlotte Area Missile Plant, which is what inspired the name used today. After the Army, the site was used by Eckerd Pharmaceuticals and later RiteAid until it was purchased by ATCO in 2017 to commence a 20 year redevelopment project that is reimagining this site as a mixed use office, retail, residential and community space. Question

Where do I park for the wedding?

Answer

If you're driving, you should use this address for your GPS: 1824 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28206. We also encourage you to spend a couple minutes checking out the site map at this website: https://camp.nc/visit/#map The wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception will be at or near the Boileryard which is identifiable by the large water tower you will see on the map and also when you arrive :)
