How are the beaches in Cartagena?

Answer

The beaches in Cartagena city aren't the best. Actually, they're murky. If you'd like to see blue, crystalline sand beaches, we recommend day trips to Playa Blanca, Islas del Rosario or Isla Tierra Bomba. The beauty in Cartagena is in it's history, cobblestone streets, rooftop terrace views, colorful balconies, city squares & culture- not the beaches. Is Cartagena Safe?

Answer

Another common question. Although we all love the Netflix series Narcos, it's completely safe! The city has a very prominent police presence. As in any major city, PLEASE EXERCISE COMMON SENSE! We recommend staying in the walled city (Centro, San Diego, Getsemani) or Bocagrande. Walking during the day is very safe and highly recommended! We recommend NOT walking around the city late at night. We highly recommend taking some time to read this article about tips for safety in Cartagena. Do I need to wear a facemask at the wedding?

Answer

Facemasks are mandatory in close spaces, so you will need it for the church. Facemasks won’t be required for the boat or the reception as both are open spaces with plenty of air flow. *** Tapabocas son obligatorias en espacios cerrados, por lo que las necesitará para la iglesia. No se requerirán tapabocas para el barco o la recepción, ya que ambos son espacios abiertos con bastante flujo de aire.

We have a vegetarian dairy free option in our menu. You can choose your preferred menu in the RSVP tab. Don't worry! Cartagena is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Colombia, well-equipped to handle visitors from all over the world. Luckily for you, English is widely spoken throughout the city. Or, use google translator. Adam's favorite App :)

Do I need a Passport or Visa?

Answer

Yes, and VERY IMPORTANT, you cannot purchase flights without a valid passport. So if you're reading this, now is the time to get one. American citizens do not need a Visa to visit Colombia.

Do I need an adapter for my electronics?

Answer

No. Colombia uses the same plugs and outlets as USA.

How is the Internet Connection in Colombia?

Answer

There is public wifi in most places, but bandwidth can be weak. We highly recommend contacting your phone service provider in the U.S an activate an internet package during your stay in Colombia. We use AT&T and we payed about $5 a day and had reliable internet at all times.

Do I have to worry about mosquitoes?

Answer

No. During our stay in Cartagena, we didn’t see any mosquitoes and didn’t get any mosquito bites. However, for those traveling to the coffee region after the wedding, we highly suggest bringing repellent and long layers. Please remember to visit your doctor to make sure you have all your recommended vaccines to travel to Colombia.

Colombia doesn't really have hotel room blocks, but we have researched trusted options for everyone. Take a look in our travel section and book early! They go fast.
