Due to the amount of people, it has been suggested that guests start arriving an hour prior to the ceremony. AN HOUR? Yes, an hour! Because the ceremony is located on top of the mountain it is going to take time for everyone to be transported up.
Swain Ski Resort is not that big and only has two parking lots. You'll park in the first lot. There will be a welcome sign and other signs directing you to the correct lift. You'll walk towards the grass, take a right and walk in between the tent and the resort building. Walk a little further to the operating ski lift. There will be a sign pointing out the bathrooms as well.
Unfortunately, if you arrive past 2:45 all options to get to the ceremony will be unavailable. We understand that situations arise. If you are late just hang out at the base of the mountain and you can join us for cocktail hour!
A soft bar will be available once you arrive to the top of the mountain. Along with music and seating. Grab yourself a glass of champagne and enjoy the view looking over the valley. Just make sure to use the restroom prior to making your way to the top, there will be no toilets.
Although we find the ski lift to be a fun and unique opportunity, we understand that not everyone may enjoy it. There will be a second option to get to the top. If you do choose to opt out of riding the lift just let us know in your RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
Cocktail attire would be appreciated. But be you, the bride would wear sweatpants and go barefoot if her mother allowed. Plan accordingly to temperature. Ladies... it is highly recommended to not wear heels. Majority of the day will be spent on grass.
We are hoping that isn't the case. But if it happens to rain we will have the ceremony under the tent where we will be having dinner.
Swain resort offers lodging on their website. The town of Swain and surrounding areas have available AirBnB's and VRBO's. The closest hotels are located in Hornell.
We kindly ask that only those that were listed on the envelope for the Save the Date or found under the RSVP attend. As much as we love you and love your littles, we cannot add any more guests to our venue. Thank you for your understanding.
