OUR STORY

Have you ever heard of the string theory?

"Just as in theoretical physics, where invisible strings are postulated to weave the fabric of the universe, in the realm of relationships, these invisible strings represent the emotional, psychological and spiritual bonds that tie people irrespective of distance, time or circumstance."- Some random guy on the internet Basically, the string theory is a concept that believes that despite physical distance, there are subtle links between souls that are interconnected. That two people are destined for each other, connected by an invisible red string. That string may stretch and tangle, but it never breaks, eventually bringing those two people together. The universe worked hard to tighten our string. Although we lived so far apart, we had so many connections. We shared friend groups, climbed the same mountains, traveled to the same destinations, and ran the same Tough Mudder... on the same day. Even Liz's old Honda Civic was sold to two separate friends of Adam's. One absolutely random day our string was pulled taut. We were both enjoying one of our favorite hobbies with different groups of friends and we finally connected. When Liz was in nursing school, she met an amazing group of girls that she still considers her best friends to this day. After graduation some of them rented a house together in Watertown, NY. They started a paddle group where different friends would frequently meet up at different locations to enjoy the sun and company. During covid, because so many activities were either closed or canceled, this paddle group would gather almost weekly. One day they picked a location on Lake Ontario where they could paddle for a mile and then relax on a secluded white sandy beach. Because of the destination they packed coolers full of snacks and drinks and made a whole day out of it. Adam started kayak racing in 2016 on Keuka Lake to support the Saunders Finger Lakes Museum benefit. At one of those races he met a gentleman that gave him an open invite to visit him at his home north of Syracuse. One day he took the opportunity to pair a visit with him as he was making his way to hike the Adirondacks. They did some work outside and then packed a pair of speed kayaks to explore new areas on Lake Ontario. June 18, 2020. Liz was telling her friends they should start packing up because the sun was going to set. There were a few drinks left in the cooler and thought they should be finished before they left to make the paddle back easier. At that moment two guys were paddling nearby. Liz yelled over to those guys to come and share a drink with her and her friends. They all chatted for a while. One of those two guys wrote his Instagram handle in the sand, "Optoutsideadam". We didn't become friends immediately. After we became friends we didn't start dating immediately. But when we did start dating that string started weaving into a rope. A strong rope with an unbreakable bond. And now we get to turn that bond into forever.
