We met through a mutual friend while waiting for the bus to head off and explore our college town during Welcome Week of our freshman year. A relationship past the level of a friendship never crossed our minds - until a series of events over the course of a few days (or fate, who knows!) brought us together and we have been inseparable ever since!
Living in the same dormitory, directly above/below one another for that matter (218 & 318 Peet Hall), we stayed up late hanging out over the past few days until college classes started. The night before, Vanessa crashed in Alex's room after staying up late playing video games. Neither had early morning classes the next day so it didn't matter! Alex offered to walk Vanessa to her English class the next day (considering both of us needed to figure out how to get there anyway - remember, classes just started!). While struggling to find the entrance to the Student Development Center (SDC) building, we just looked at each other and was like "So, are we a thing now? Yeah? Okay!" It was more of a mutual agreement than one officially asking the other!
We had planned on going to Disney World for over a year with his family to celebrate his parent's 25th wedding anniversary. When the trip was initially planned, the "slight" hinting of a Disney proposal started but never thought would actually happen due to financial situations - until it actually happened! Fast forward to our trip - we were at Epcot for the day, which happens to be Vanessa's favorite park. His parents planned to have croissants and champagne at the France Pavilion that morning and "take family pictures". It was our turn to take a cute couples picture, and after picking up the dropped Minnie Ears off the ground from a failed "dip and kiss" picture and turning around, he was on one knee proposing! There were tears, excitement, and of course we still got our champagne (but this time, it was more of a champagne toast rather than starting our "drinking around the world" adventure!) Of course, this was all captured on camera! It was an amazing day!
