No, seriously... We met on Tinder in November of 2014. I was a freshman in college at UW-Oshkosh, and Nick was finishing up his degree at St. Norbert. We talked and talked for WEEKS over text (a real 21st century love story). Finally, we decided we should probably meet in person. Pizza and movies, a solid first date. Wisconsin's winter weather had other plans. I drove from Oshkosh to DePere in my low riding car, and it was starting to snow. I called my best friend, Kristina, on the way to tell her all about him and how excited I was. By the time I made it to DePere, there was a good 6 inches of snow on the ground (at least that's what it looked like to me!). I tried to turn into Nick's driveway and immediately got stuck at the bottom. Nick had to come out in the snow and try and get my car into his driveway... It took one try. After that, we went up to his apartment and started to watch a movie - The Italian Job. I had never seen it, so I was excited to branch out from my normal RomComs and Harry Potter. He was gonna order pizza and we were just gonna hang out and get to know each other more. I fell asleep on his couch within the first 5 minutes of the movie... Don't worry, I watched it completely with him a couple years later, it wasn't too bad! Anyways, our first date ended up lasting about 15 minutes before I fell asleep. To this day, I still don't know why he ever called me again. The next weekend: he took me to dinner, I went to 2 of his hockey games, and met his parents before I went home to Virginia for a whole month. We talked every day while I was home. I (drunkenly and annoyingly) called him on New Years Eve while he was out with his friend, Erik, in Milwaukee. I already knew at that point he was someone I could see myself with forever. I flew back to Wisconsin a few days later, went straight to his hockey game from the airport, and the rest is history.
Short Version: I ruined the surprise, cried a lot, ate a quesadilla, and had to keep it a secret for a FULL day! And then he proposed AGAIN. We were back at the hotel after my sister's graduation celebration and I was taking off my makeup. I turned around, makeup wipe in hand, and he was down on one knee asking me to be his wife. Of course I said "YES!" for a second time! We'll tell you the long version another time if you don't already know. But we're so excited to start our lives as husband & wife, and can't wait to celebrate with you all!
