Mongolian Traditions

The Wedding Website of Abigail Williams and Mondekhuu Turmunkh
At our wedding, we will be incorporating a few Mongolian traditions to honor Monde and his family. Here is a list of what you'll see and the intention behind it: TRADITIONAL RINGS: The diamond and circle shapes point to the protective and supportive roles of husband and wife. The shapes are intertwined to symbolize the strongest form of connection between families and culture. Outer dots represent the support of the families while the inner dots represent husband and wife. FIRE BLESSINGS: The fire is a symbol of family lineage which is carried on through the son in each generation. Lighting our first fire as husband and wife is a signal that we are now starting a family of our own and carrying the lineage before us. MILK BLESSING: This blessing is done by the mothers of the bride and groom. The white milk symbolizes the purity of the couple. It will be poured down individual sides of the stand and flow into the same bowl, ending in a picture of unity between the families.
