Both Juan and I (Abigail) have lived in Germany, the United States, and Spain. Juan was born and raised in Pozoblanco, Spain, where he lived until he was 18. He then moved to Alaska for a year to do volunteer work before relocating to Sielmingen, Germany, where he completed his university studies and lives today. I was born in Florida and grew up in Vienna, Austria until I was 18. I then moved to California to study and later spent time living and teaching in Nairobi, Kenya and Vienna, Austria. Afterwards, I moved to Spain for two months to do volunteer work and improve my Spanish. Soon after, I met Juan while working as a ski instructor in Schladming, Austria. I now live in Stuttgart, Germany.

Both Juan and I grew up as missionary kids (MKs). Juan’s parents worked at a drug rehabilitation center in Spain, while my parents planted a church in Vienna, Austria. Both sets of parents are still serving as missionaries — Juan’s parents are now in Italy, and my parents continue their work in Vienna.

Both Juan and I speak German, English, and Spanish. Juan speaks all three fluently, while I am still learning Spanish but can follow most conversations quite well ;) Many people ask which language we speak together, and the answer is: all three! Mostly a mix of German and English, with Spanish joining in whenever the conversation is a bit simpler.
