The College Bestie

Brice and Cory have been friends since 2007, when they were randomly assigned roommates freshman year at the University of Northern Iowa (go Panthers!). Some of Cory’s favorite memories with Brice are Thursday nights eating free Pancheros burritos and watching The Office, Double Dashes (if you know, you know), and going on work trips to build and demo solar car kits with kids and teachers. Cory also had the honor of being in Brice’s wedding party in October 2014.

The Other Mr. Hockey

Davis and Cory met by being the two worst players in a beginners’ hockey clinic in Mt. Lebanon in 2018. They played on the same beer league team (shoutout to our all-star center, Zac!) and were an unstoppable juggernaut with… some goals. (Fun fact: Davis had a great nickname on that team, but we can't share it here.) Aside from hockey, Cory and Davis have cheered at Pirates and Pens games together, practiced their golf swings out on the course, and engaged in some pretty great fantasy football banter over the past few seasons.

Glenn Hoffman

The Bud

Glenn and Cory met in 2019 when they were coworkers at the Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. They were on the same team at a work trivia event (Glenny and the Jets!) and the rest is history. Glenn introduced Cory to his favorite bar in Pittsburgh, as well as Crossfit. (So, there’s some poetic balance there.) Some of the things Cory and Glenn have enjoyed together include podcasting, golfing, fantasy football matchups, going to the gym (is “enjoy” the right word here?), and many pints lifted at Dad’s Pub and Grub. (Plus the corn dog bites.)

Jonathan Keally

The Beard

Jonathan and Cory also met at PERU. Jonathan started a few weeks before Cory, and they quickly formed an exclusive lunch club (the Midday Beards) and struck up a friendship that has lasted well beyond either of their employment at Pitt. Cory’s favorite memories with Jonathan include lunch trips to Aldi’s (that’s “Aldi” if you’re not in Pittsburgh), doing pushups and sun salutes over Zoom in 2020, and trying pho for the first time. (The verdict? Pho-get about it! It’s all yours, J!) They now test their friendship each week by talking fantasy football smack on the league’s podcast.

Savannah Myers

Partner in Crime

Savannah and Abby have been friends since Kindergarten and know probably a little too much about each other by this point. Some of Abby's favorite memories with Savannah include their burger and vanilla Coke lunches at Five Guys, playing the board game Secret Hitler with friends, and Savannah's many creative attempts to wake Abby up before noon — including playing "Crazy Train" at max volume under her bedroom door. Abby tried her best to give a kickass speech as Savannah's maid of honor at her wedding in June 2023.

Lauren Brumfield

High School Hang

Abby and Lauren became close during a high school "passion project" assignment, which consisted of a short-term knitting group that became more of a regular pizza and movie night throughout their junior year. Despite moving hundreds of miles apart for college, Abby and Lauren would regularly spend hours at Number One Kitchen catching up over winter break. One of Abby's favorite memories with Lauren is dancing to Lauren's favorite song at their senior prom after most people had left for the night.

Drew Goff

Home Away from Home

Abby first met Drew's then-boyfriend Kody at WVU in 2013, but she and Abby soon became good friends once Drew moved from Pittsburgh to Morgantown. Before long, Abby was spending several days a week at Kody and Drew's apartment playing videogames together, laughing at YouTube videos, walking around Walmart's toy section, and doing blind taste tests of different soda flavors. She cried many happy tears during their intimate wedding ceremony in 2017 and has always considered the home Drew and Kody have created together as one of her favorite places.

Corinne Vincent

Flowmie for Life

Abby had one Bumble success story before Cory: She met Corinne through the friend version of the app (Bumble BFF). They quickly became flow arts friends — Corinne with hoops and Abby with a leviwand — and would meet up to practice using the reflection from the first-floor windows of WVU's Life Sciences building. After Abby moved to Pittsburgh, they continued to stay in touch and visit each other a few times per year. Abby's favorite memories with Corinne include holding her pet snake Byron for the first time; hiking out to a secret swimming spot on Cheat Lake; and eating sushi at Ogawa, the second-best restaurant in Morgantown (RIP Chico's Fat).

Jimmy Marino

As the lead singer, lyricist, and guitarist for The Beautiful Mistakes, Jimmy and Cory have played sweet tunes together weekly since 2019 and released two albums with the rest of the band. (We hope he says some nice things about us at the ceremony.)
