The Wedding Website of Abby Haynes and Emily Eastman
Cartagena is a beautiful Caribbean coastal city filled with endless squares, cobblestone streets and lively colonial architecture. We hope you fall in love with this city’s vibrant colors, inviting atmosphere and amazing food, just as we did! Cartagena is a fairly large city; however, all the wedding festivities will be held within the Old City. The Old City is a beautiful, ancient Spanish, colonial town comprised of three neighborhoods we suggest staying in. You can walk from one end to the other in 15-20 mins so just choose the one that fits your vibe the best! We will not have a hotel block as the Old City embraces boutique hotels and countless Airbnb options, you really can’t go wrong. If you have those extra travel points and choose to stay in the Bocagrande region, where you will find traditional hotel chains and beautiful beaches, no problem, just be aware you will need to take an Uber to and from events within the Old City.

Flight

Rafael Núñez International Airport

Fly into Rafael Núñez International Airport - located just 20 mins outside of the Old City!

Rental Car

Uber

Great news - Uber is available in Cartagena! No need for rental cars, private shuttles or tourist buses. You will be able to request a ride to and from the airport, no problem. The average cost for a ride is only a few dollars so save your pesos for a round of Club Colombia!

Travel Note

The Old City

The Old City has three neighborhoods - El Centro, San Diego and Getsemani, all highlighted below. We recommend staying in any of these neighborhoods and enjoying walking through the streets and soaking in the salty air.

Travel Note

Getsemaní Neighborhood

Getsemaní is known as the artsy neighborhood and a top choice for young travelers, artists and musicians and is our favorite neighborhood in Cartagena! Though technically outside the old city walls, we love it here as it is a bustling neighborhood full of life and Caribbean charm. Be sure to at least take a stroll through Getsamaní to get a look at some of the city's best and brightest street art!

Travel Note

Bocagrande

Bocagrande is a popular for its long hotel stretches, sandy beaches backed by palm-lined promenades. Here you will find all the comforts of chain restaurants mixed with mellow café terraces. Smart boutiques sell local and international fashion, while Plaza Bocagrande is an upscale mall with sea views. *Please note - if you stay in Bocagrande, you will need to Uber rather than walk to and from wedding events in the Old City.

Travel Note

El Centro Neighborhood

El Centro is touristy for a reason - the perfectly preserved colonial architecture, picturesque streets and photogenic beauty is classic Cartagena. Here you will find gorgeous hotels, incredible restaurants, cafes and bars.

Travel Note

San Diego Neighborhood

Despite being only a few blocks from El Centro, the San Diego neighborhood has a more relaxed, bohemian vibe. San Diego is known for a more casual atmosphere while still having lots of character filled with bars and restaurants.

House Or Rental

Airbnb

The Old City has endless boutique hotels that we cannot recommend enough; however, the city is also filled with amazing, affordable Airbnb's! Since the entire Old City is walkable, you really can't go wrong :)
