We're getting married!

It was a typical, hot summer day in Atlanta when we swiped our way to each other on Bumble... classic :) After a few quick messages and corny one liners, Abby jumped at the chance to meet Emily in person and asked her out nearly immediately. Drinks turned into dinner, turned into nonstop laughter and deep discussions. They were inseparable from that day forward spending endless days picnicking in the park and nights dancing under the stars. It has been a magical ride; the future only holds endless adventure and boundless love.

Abby had been (half-jokingly) asking Emily to marry her for years by this point - typically walking home hand in hand from a night dancing at The Warren or staring into her eyes on the Beauty Bar dance floor. But, for the real thing, Abby wanted it to be perfect, and to encompass all the ways they are able to make life’s simple day to day moments special while incorporating their sense of adventure and exploring the world. The day started with a brunch date “picnic” at a gorgeous enclosed rooftop - what could be better? As they walked up the stairs with their special song playing, Emily had no idea what was about to unfold; thinking this place just “really got her vibe” she walked into the empty space believing they were the first patrons to arrive ready for mimosas. It was only once Abby slid off the couch and on to one knee did she know what was happening! Completely overwhelmed with tears of joy, hands shaking she exclaims yes! Little did she know that was not the only surprise that day… They were set to travel back to Emily’s home of MN the next day, and when Emily mentioned the trip Abby responded with, “Nah, we’re not going to MN, we’re going to Maui!” So they jetted into the Hawaiian sunset on their first adventure as fiancés!

It was a cloudy Friday when Em suggested that instead of work, we play hooky and visit all the spots in Chicago that hold a meaningful place in our story. Abby thought nothing of it because heartfelt, fun gestures like this are simply who Emily is. So, we were off - stopping at various places that hold a special place in our hearts. Eventually, we arrived at a beautiful spot overlooking the Humboldt Park Boathouse (a favorite landmark of Abby's and the site of many a picnic date of ours) where Em began speaking about how much Abby means to her. Abby STILL thought nothing of it when a tear slipped down Emily's cheek, but then Emily got down on one knee and time stood still as Emily asked Abby to marry her. It was the most joy filled moment that will always be treasured. But the celebration wasn't over, we enjoyed a champagne filled picnic at the proposal spot before Emily surprise whisked Abby off to a perfect staycation weekend at an Airbnb in the city. The two spent a perfect evening on the Airbnb's rooftop, basking in the happiness of the day and excitedly talking about our future together. The next day, to Abby's surprise, our friends arrived for the most fun, surprise engagement party!
