Yes. It will in fact be the most bangin' wedding of your life.
Please RSVP by Oct 1, 2022 - we need time to coordinate with vendors and that should give you ample time to snag yourself a place and flight :)
Each event has a different vibe, you can check out the events page for more details; however, see below for suggested attire. Welcome Drinks - Cute Casual. This will be a low key cocktail hour outside so come as you are; however, the spot is very instagram-able so keep feel free to chic it up. Maybe a sun dress,? A cute romper? Can we hope matching sets are still in style? It is Cartagena, get colorful! Beach Day - Literal beach wear. Swim suit, floppy hats and LOTS of sun screen! Wedding - Semi formal. Midi or maxi dresses? Linen suits? Suit jackets and heels are encouraged but not required. If you opt for heels, a chunky heel is encouraged as the venue is historic and has uneven ground. Now is your chance to get bright, funky and bring a whole vibe!
No, drinking the tap water will make you sick. We also recommend avoiding ice including ice-y cocktails. Bottled water is readily available at stores and restaurants throughout the city.
Yes! Cartagena is a very safe, walkable city. However, like all cities, it is important to be mindful of your surroundings, keep your phone in sight and go places with a buddy because it is easy to get turned around in the winding city streets.
All the food! We highly recommend all food exploration in Colombia - it is the best part! All the food is safe to eat, and believe us, we have had it all. Ceviche is what the city is most known for, if you leave without trying some you will most certainly regret it :)
Many bars/restaurants and all hotels will accept credit cards; however, make sure to let your bank know you are traveling to Colombia so your cards work. We also recommend having some cash (Colombian pesos) on hand, it makes it easier to pay for things and grab a quick beer. The easiest way to get cash is to bring your debit card and use an ATM once you are in country. Exchanging money prior can be time consuming and the US will give you the worst exchange rate. The process is easy, the ATMs work just as they would as if you were in the US but will dispense Colombian Pesos, so you are set to go! You can find the latest exchange rate here: https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=USD&To=COP
That is okay! The people of Cartagena are incredibly kind and used to helping out foreigners who don't speak Spanish. However, a little effort at an "hola" or "gracias" goes a long way.
The whole city is walkable, you can walk from one end to the other in about 15 to 20 minutes so no car should be needed. For those times when you aren't up for a walk or it's too far (like to/from the airport), Uber is available and easy to use.
Covid situations are constantly changing, stay updated with the restrictions and guidelines here: https://co.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/
Covid policies are constantly changing to enter back into the US. Make sure you check the government site to ensure you have everything you need before your departure. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/requirements-for-air-travelers-to-the-us.html
Cartagena faces the Caribbean, so it is quite warm. Attire should be breezy and pants are discouraged :) Make sure to check the weather before you start packing! https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/Cartagena+of+Indias+Bol%C3%ADvar+Colombia?canonicalCityId=7a841fe75da51b76a1ad131983c73d0a1d2549580cab98f0843572e0bc2f0dcc
